For such a strange concept.. It was written very well..

Just watched this myself. enjoyed it.

Scorsese still is good.

For me today he is average, with a few sparks here and there. However, according by what I'm reading, the Wolf of Wall Street is a new high in his career.

9/10 just because it has a lot of porn and drugs, otherwise it really deserves a 10/10.

The porn and drugs should bump it up 1 point not take it down 1 point.

Captain Phillips

7/10, maybe less.

It just blows my mind that 4 armed malnutritioned people can take hostage of a crew of say 30. But, maybe that's just me due to my career choice.

Tom Hanks did good, I especially liked his acting at the end while being over looked by a medic. I think the actor that played Muse did good for his first big movie.

With that being said, I looked up some history on this event and found this site:

These were a surprise for me, bought by my wife for Christmas, but for some reason they only turned up Monday 13th

(And yes, I am aware these have been out for a while now, also it's not the first time I'm watching them)

6/10

A great movie, I liked it, good performances, had some nostalgia in some respects to the original for me (bridge crew etc...)

9/10

I've never seen it in high def before, regardless of what anyone thinks of the storyline, it is thee most visually beautiful, and stunning movie I've ever seen.

(50 inch Panasonic plasma)

This is a big chunk of what I've watched since my last post in the previous thread:

Last Vegas 5/10 - generic comedy that only got a few chuckles out of me, fast forwarded the last third

Short Term 12 7/10 - very enjoyable drama, loses a point for some unrealistic character behaviour

Thief 6/10 - well acted, but the main character is not very likeable and the plot hole doesn't help

Rush 9/10 - amazing car sounds and very good all-around (I'm not even a F1 fan)

The Ultimate Gift 2/10 - christian family-drama, lame convoluted plot and bad acting

Gremlins 2/10 - horrible all-around

Don Jon 6-7/10 - I though it was about mobsters before watching, imagine my surprise..

What Maisie Knew 9/10 - liked a lot even if it's fairly predictable, bittersweet ending

Evil Under the Sun 5/10 - too contrived

Death at a Funeral 10/10 - one of the few comedies that made me pause to catch my breath (don't confuse with american remake)

Unforgiven 7/10 - good, but didn't stand out

Chugyeogja 8/10 - kept me glued to the screen but it is somewhat flawed

The To Do List 1/10 - as enjoyable as seeing someone eating a turd floating in the pool (it's in there)

Closed Circuit - 6/10 (I got lost with the plot but Eric Bana is a great actor. Good to see Julia Stiles, too.)

The Lincoln Lawyer - 8/10 (Seen it before but really like this one. Going to read the book here soon.)

I watched 12 Years a Slave a few days ago 5/5, a really moving story.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes5/5 Watched this again with my girlfriend who had never seen it and still love every minute of it. Really looking forward to the next one this year.

Hoping to go and see The Wolf of Wall Street this week.

Would You Rather (2012)

It's a psychological horror film. It's horrible, sickening, and sadistic. Don't watch it unless you like torture porn.

What's your rating? Sasha Grey is in it, so I'll probably watch it, ha.

I'm curious why James Franco isn't in the new one.

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
