[Official] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Well it depends on what you mean by "realistic". The setting sure isn't, but the weapons handling and tactical side of it is more realistic than most games. i.e. one well placed shot to the face and they're going down.

Its the other way around :p The setting is realistic (as in, no alien motherships or futuristic streets), human beings fireing human-made **** - the environment resembles our own somewhat.

The weapons handling realistic? Nah, no weapon sway, no breathing, hip-fireing with crossairs as Sethos said, bullets that....hurt like BB pellets :D

God.. I am still undecided if I am going to get it on PC or 360..... I have friends on both

Have a meeting discussing which platform you will all get the game for :p

All these popular console FPS games are arcade shooters infused with elements of realism. Not realistic shooters infused with "arcade-ism".

Counter-Strike is no different, it's an arcade FPS title infused with elements of realism, it's core mechanic is fun gameplay, obviously that's subject to taste, but there's no way the developers set out to make counter strike a realistic portrayal of "war".

Arguing which is more realistic is pretty pointless, none of them are truly made to be realistic in the first place, it's all about fun addictive gameplay. Believe it or not if the games were truly realistic the gameplay probably wouldn't be that "fun" to many people, at least not 11 million + people in the case of COD.

You call hip firing realistic? And what game doesn't have headshots that instantly kills players these days  ?

cod pistols :p

if your playing on non hardcore then cod4 is too arcadey... no recoil on guns, small maps that allow u to shoot from 1 end to the other with m-16 and other assault rifles, maps layout favors running and gunning

Which makes the gameplay fast, fun, and addicting. Even right now the "larger" maps in COD4 have tons of snipers all over the place, so making maps even bigger means even more snipers. Yes they have a place in the game but imbalacing maps so that everybody is a sniper takes away a lot of the fun.

do u play waw?

its a perfect mix of map styles

u can get your little hectic maps such as dome to big tactical maps like seelow

then u get maps which have everything in them like castle (majority of maps on waw are like this)

i really hope cod6 has bigger and better thought out maps

i am no sniper and i have had a lot more fun on waw... also the guns are balanced (mp40 is a beast but its recoil balances it out a bit), less noob tubes and grenade spamming

Nope, I stopped playing it after the beta because it was exactly the same as COD4 except WWII.

the gameplay is the same but better framerate and hit detection on waw

u should give it a go, maybe if u can find it for cheap... they may also release a version with all 3 map packs

u may like it just for zombie mode

I wasn't going to buy it just because of horde mode. How can it have a better frame rate if COD4 was 60fps?

the framerate is THE SAME in both games, gameplay is THE SAME, hit detection is THE SAME, stop sweet talking WaW because that game is a "legal" copy of CoD 4 with a different theme, nothing else. Call of Duty 4 has PLENTY of maps which doesn't allow you to "spawn snipe" and a tactical / camping playstyle done correctly WILL put you on top of the leaderboard while the runners and gunners will fetch second and third.

So stop talking trash about Call of Duty 4 because you obviously know very little about the game.

People hate on WAW too much. I was a HUGE COD4 player but the map variety in WAW is honestly much better. I can't even count the number of times I get spawn killed by nades in COD4 cause some guy was able to randomly throw it across the map. Have you ever played wet work or shipment? Yeah, the whole game turns into a martyrdom and nade fest.

There is a lot less nade spamming (especially from across the map) in WAW and that already makes it less frustrating.

I guess I should prepare for the "lul u sux at games" posts now.

lul I sux at games...

Oh wait, I did that wrong :/

I had fun with WaW for the short while I played it, but I'm not a hardcore COD nut I just give it a play for fun. I have no doubts COD4 is probably "better" but I doubt I could put WaW down to the level most people do. I had fun with both, but again, I didn't dedicate as much of my time to it as more seasoned players so my opinion ain't exactly extensive.

I agree, for the most part war is a shameless copy of cod4, but the maps are a lot better IMO. Cod4's weakness is some of the maps (Seriously shipment shouldn't even have the right to exist)

The zombie mode is also pretty cool.

    • Simple answer is yes, you will still get the Windows updates and as long as browser is up to date, you will be good. Only thing secure boot does is protect you against boot level threats and make it harder to install other OS's. I've been looking into this pretty thoroughly lately myself as wifes computer has secure boot disabled plus my other, older computers that run Linux, don't have secure boot enabled. Have seen all kinds of questions about this on the Linux Mint and MX Linux forums. Just don't suddenly enable secure boot now.
