Has anyone seen anything related to texture flickering issues? I'd love to get that sorted

I saw a bit of texture flickering with my HD 4870 on high settings (HBAO disabled). It wasn't that obvious though.

Anyway, it looks like a lot of people are having the crash to desktop issue when they try to browse for servers. I just confirmed it with my friend and DirtyLarry.

Was able to play two matches but not really as I was messing with my graphical settings the first match and second one the lag kicked in real bad and then everyone got dropped, so no real impression yet of the PC version.

You guys who are running it at high, what resolution are you running it at? When I tried 1680 x 1050 and High, it was barely getting over 30 FPS and when there was a lot going on it was dropping to low 20's, just not acceptable for an FPS. I was using FRAPS to find out exactly what I was getting.

Full specs in my Sig, but a Core i7 and GTX 285, with 6GB triple channel, and although I knew it was going to be demanding, I was really expecting it to run better than it did.

And yeah right now the game just crashes for me every-time I try the server browser. There is a message on the ticker saying they are well aware of the lag issues, etc. This is why they call it a Beta.

Believe me, it's definitely obvious on mine.

I joined a game briefly running 1920x1200, everything on High, 2x AA and 4xAF and had no problems whatsoever - Ran at around 40-60FPS.

EDIT: Well, I have problems, the flickering but no FPS issues.

I haven't been able to try it yet. It downloaded quick from Fileplanet, but as people above are mentioned the play now button times out and server browser causes the game to crash.

I have a C2D e6850, 4GB Ram, Vista 32 and a 4890 1GB. I probably won't try to crank it up to high right away, I'll start on medium and adjust the settings as I go. It's probably better to have a buttery framerate than chunky awesomeness.

Looking forward to the bugs getting ironed out, that is exactly what this beta is here for. :)

I just read this on Twitter, it was posted by the official BF staff.

The #BFBC2 PC beta central login servers are wonky right now, might experience problems/crashes listing servers. Team working on it.

That's why everyone is having a hard time getting servers.

I hope that's why I can't log in, because it definitely accepted my key and it's not letting me log in.

I'm glad they're working on it. (Y)

Am I the only one annoyed by betas and demos that doesn't offer the ability to start your own server or in some sort of sandbox mode to test out graphical settings

and get used to vehicles?

That would've been awesome.

Anyway, here are my video settings:

bc2-settings.jpg

It's smooth and very playable. I don't know how much FPS I'm getting but I imagine it's in the 30+ range. This is with an Intel E6750 @ 3.2 Ghz, ATI HD 4870, and 8GB RAM (on Windows 7 x64).

No, I swear BF2 let you do this no?? I know I used to tweak my settings a good amount in that to get perfect FPS.

Currently on the 360, no issues getting in a game on it at all.

But weird, according to what I am hearing I should definitely be getting much. much better FPS, I wonder if something is running in the background hindering my performance.

For those still wanting keys, try http://www.fileplay.net/keys

No real hurry though, server browser is still causing a CTD. Hope that gets fixed soon, can't wait to play this! Grabbed a beta key today, and was hoping it would fill the gap between now and the Mass Effect 2 release. No such luck

Of course, I got a key for my account, put it in, and it doesn't let me log in. My brother logged into his account on my computer, put the key in, and his loads.

Looks like I just got screwed over. How wonderful...especially after spending the whole day trying to get a key.

ya im sure the full game you can throw up your own sandbox game to play in, the beta is a bit more limited in what you can do.

that said, in the hour or so i did get to play it (PC), had a blast, cant wait for the full launch!

course the servers crashing and whatnot doesnt help, but im sure they'll fix that sometime

Are you running avast! anti-virus? I was running it and the behaviour shield really slowed things down. I disabled it, and boom... my FPS was almost as smooth as butter. :p

Just an update: The issues are still being worked on (according to Johan Andersson (@repi) on Twitter).

You could, it just seems like a new trend to only offer the ability to join online servers as giving people access to an offline environment they always tend to crack it

somehow and open up for multiplayer without a key

Yeah that's pretty obvious but that was only for Betas and Demos, it's annoying not being able to tweak controls, options and getting used to

weapons / vehicles without having to do it in a live environment.

Do you know of any other sites?

I can't seem to create an account on Fileplay... :(

Nope no AV in background at all. Weird, just weird.

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.4 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates. Diagram faster with keyboard shortcuts. draw.io Desktop 30.2.4 changelog: Uses electron 42.4.1 Updates to draw.io core 30.2.4. • Microsoft will soon allow some users to block Copilot from analyzing their Office files by Usama Jawad Microsoft Purview is a pretty useful data governance, security, and management service that allows customers to gain enhanced visibility and control over their content. It's meant for commercial customers, such as organizations that are storing data at scale. As AI continues to expand and infiltrate every corner of a firm, many are a bit conscious about the technology gaining access to their confidential data. Microsoft is now making a configuration change that will allow such customers to rest easy. Right now, users within an organization have the option to apply Purview sensitivity labels (when available) to secure certain files and label them as such. For example, if you apply the "Confidential" label on an Excel file, the file will be encrypted, and a "confidential" watermark will be applied to it. So, if this file is shared with anyone, they are aware that its access is supposed to be restricted. Up until now, Microsoft was allowing some connected experiences, like its AI services, to analyze files, regardless of their sensitivity label. This is of major concern to most organizations, as a recent example highlighted how confidential emails with data loss prevention (DLP) policies like privacy labels were being uploaded to Copilot for analysis. As such, Microsoft is updating an existing Purview data label sensitivity setting that prevents "some connected experiences that analyze content", from being blocked completely from doing this. The label isn't changing, but the blocking is now being enforced across all connected services (including Copilot and other AI tools), and now extends to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Files with the label applied already will get this enhancement automatically too once it becomes available. Microsoft has urged IT admins to inform their respective helpdesk and compliance teams, update internal documentation, and review sensitivity labels to ensure that they meet their respective compliance needs. This change is tagged as MC1297982 in the Message Center. General availability is scheduled to begin in a phased manner soon and will complete by the end of next month. That said, it is important to note that this only applies to commercial customers who have a license that allows them to use Purview.

    • All versions is correct. The bug appears on any version of Windows with KB5094126 installed. It's a little insane to expect the author to explain that systems that can't possibly have that patch installed, will not experience the bug. If you have any gripe about the title, it would be that it doesn't mention the update at all, but I wouldn't agree with that either. A title is not expected to be a full summery of the article.
