I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this stuff..

I'm getting an xbox 360 soon and it performs better on my monitor than my tv, but I only have the one monitor. If I get a dual VGA cable, and connect my PC and xbox to the same monitor, will that work?

What happens if both things are turned on?!

Thanks in advance

RAM problem "compaq presario f500"

I have been having problems with this laptop since the month I got it, 2 years ago, but recently It has been locking up (only in windows, not in ubuntu) then one day it froze, then wouldn't turn on, lights came on, then shut itself off, tried some things, then found out if I remove one stick of RAM, it works fine! I looked at the RAM slots, and they seem okay, even tried other sticks of RAM,

I don't Know what to do, there is a recall for when this happens, but HP told me it's to late for a free repair on my laptop,

Has anyone had a problem like this and/or know a way to fix?

Thanks!

Well, I just broke my headset, left side doesn't work anymore. Any suggestions on what headset to get? I'm a gamer but I also enjoy listening to music, and no 5.1 surround sound headsets please. Maximum price I guess would be about 75 USD.

Need help on deciding which hard drive to get

I am building a computer and am going to use an intel x25-m for my boot drive. Then I am probably going to use a caviar black 1tb as my data storage drive.

I need one more drive that I pretty much just use to download stuff too and then extract the files and either burn the files or just move them to storage. We are talking about 5-15 gigs a day of downloading and extracting.

The drive would need to be between 200-300 gigs. I am wondering if it would be worthwhile to get another ssd for this like the ocz 256gb? Or saving money and going with a 300gb velociraptor? or even saving more money and going with another caviar black?

Is the ssd going to make much of a difference since the drive is mostly going to be used to write to?

HDMI Out Graphics Card

Hi,

I'm trying to hook up my desktop pc to my 32'' samsung hdtv.
My tv has a hdmi connector socket which is currently hooked up to my xbox via a hdmi cable.

What I want to do is hook both my pc and xbox up to the tv via the single hdmi socket.

So a couple of questions:

1) What is a good, cheap graphics card with an hd-out which I can plant in my desktop pc and connect to the tv to enjoy sweet sweet hd quality?

2) If I connect both xbox and pc to my tv via an hdmi splitter will this affect the quality (both will not be on at the same time obviously!)

I should point out i dont intend on playing many games on the tv from my pc (like, say MW2...)

All of this in the uk...cheers!

Calum.

Thermal Paste needed for Slot 1 CPU?

I’ve ordered a Pentium 3 550mhz (SL3F7), minus heatsink. I already have a 600mhz (SL3JM) version siting around, that never worked properly, that has attached a large passive heatsink. I had to modify this h/s, cutting off the ends, so that CPU could be seated in the slot (it still only mounted adequately, not 100% securely). Anyway, question is: if I swap that h/s onto the 550, do I need then to use any thermal paste between CPU and sink? There’s a white plastic looking patch on the h/s where it mounts to the CPU.

I believe this is the right place to post this; anyway, when i turn my computer on, the screen is black.
