Linksys RV042 Router / Gateway Configuration Query

Hi,

I am using the Linksys RV042 router as a gateway for the purpose of load balancing. I recently changed one of my ISPs and the new ISP is using some wireless technology that I don't understand. It is based on wi-fi and it is not WiMax or 3G.

On WAN-1 port of the RV042, I have one Internet connection configured for static IP and it is working fine. Here, the WAN-1 port is fed by the ISP's ADSL modem which is configured in bridge mode.

On WAN-2 port of the RV042, I have connected the NEW Internet connection. Here, the WAN-2 port is wired to some kind of wireless device of the ISP which is placed on my terrace. I cannot configure the RV042 to connect to Internet through NEW ISP. They have provided me user-name and password but they don't work. In case of earlier ISP, it worked fine in WAN-2 with PPPoE with the old ISP's ADSL router in bridge mode.

In the case of the new Internet connection, when I connect it directly to my PC, it automatically directs me to a webpage: http://192.168.240.1/24online/webpages/client.jsp. Here I enter the username and password given to me and then works fine. But it doesn't work via my Linksys router.

My feeling is that the new ISP's router has to be set up in bridge mode and only then I can login to the network via my Linksys. Now if they do not allow me to do that, is there any way out for me?

Will it help if I setup my Linksys router in Router mode rather than Gateway mode? I can access the ADSL modem of ISP 1 and set that device back into router mode from bridge mode. The ISP2 is already in router mode. Would it work for me? If not, what needs to be done?

If the Linksys RV042 is running in router mode, what does it mean for Load balancing and giving preferential treatment to different clients?

Thanks

EDIT:

I also wanted to know if what I believe is right or not:

Linksys Router in Gateway Mode CONNECTED TO Bridged ADSL Modem/Router = Works fine (Static as well as PPPoE)

Linksys Router in Router Mode CONNECTED TO ADSL Modem/Router in Gateway Mode = SHOULD work fine (or not???)

I read a post maybe a month or so ago from someone who said every time he went to Facebook all it said on the page was "www.weblogsinc.com". I can't seem to find his post to find if it was ever resolved or not, but I too have had the same issue today (with Twitter), and have found a solution. The fix seems to be to clear the Firefox cache. The instructions are listed here:

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/4...clear%20history

DSL-2740B Speeds

Hi guys,

A few weeks back my modem died so I purchased a D-Link DSL-2740B. After using the modem for a few days I've noticed that my download speed is about half of what it was with my Netcomm NB5PLUS4W.

I'm on a ADSL1 uncapped plan from Netspace. Previously I was able to download at speeds around 700KB/s. With the D-Link I can't get a download speed higher then 310KB/s.

I've ran a few speed tests and they all come back with the same result.

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin (dB): 17.1 6.0
Attenuation (dB): 20.0 13.0
Output Power (dBm): 4.1 19.8
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 11744 480
Rate (Kbps): 8160 384

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem with this modem??

Any sort of advice or help would be great.

Cheers.

Proxy apps with torrent networks

I am behind a college Firewall(cyberroam) which has most of its ports blocked except basic port 80, 21. .etc

Hence, i use tunnel proxy clients like Your-freedom and Proxyfier to use torrent softwares(bitcomet). The torrent works, except for the fact that the torrent client(bitcomet, in this case) shows the listening port i use (44221 in my case) to be blocked..
Now lets trace back as to what i know...

1. Your-freedom configures computer to receive connections from applications on my computer via the address localhost:1080

2. Your-freedom then searches for open ports on my firewall and directs outgoing traffic to that port.

3. The server my client connects to, requests as if it were requesting for its own system...

4. The information obtained is relayed back to my firewall via the open port, which reaches my system ..

(please rectify if there is anything wrong)...

According to this model, the listening port 44221 is blocked on my firewall, but not on the your-freedom server. Then why does bitcomet report it to be blocked?

Router PIN & Uninstallation of Driver

The other day I turned my laptop on and it wasn't connected to no wireless internet, so i thought somebody had turned my router off, but it was on. I went into Device Manager and there was no Wireless Network Adapter under "Network Adapters" i then looked in "Other devices" and it was in there with a question mark, so obviously the driver had been uninstalled, on its own. Anyway i managed to find the driver but the weird thing was that it asked for a Router PIN (which I had never been asked for before) but I managed to find this on the underneath of my Router. But the thing is, I then turned my laptop on and it was installing the driver of the wireless network adapter again (although it done it on its own this time) then I had to again enter the Router PIN and WEP key. Why is it doing this?

Very peculiar printer problem....

So this is a basic home network setup all on the "Korth" network. Now on this network I have my computer (Zeus) (Windows 7), my laptop (Aries)(Windows XP), my mothers computer (Dana)(Windows XP), and my fathers computer (Tims-PC)(Windows 7).

Now, my mother has been having printing troubles. She can't print anything in fact, everything that spools out is a blank page. BUT Zeus and Aries can print out beautifully on that printer over the network. The weird part about it is that Dana is connected to the printer via USB meaning I am printing through her computer with Zeus and Aries.

The printer is a Lexmark 8300 series (Link to Manufacturer).

I've never seen anything like this....any ideas?
