Bioshock General Discussion ( Xbox 360 )

It's used extremely well as gameplay. The part with the glass corridor roof and when it breaks was awesome. At first I was like, "what do I do" and wasn't sure if the scene was over and then I was like **** I'm gonna die lol. The realised you could go behind the water and through the gap to the other side :p

It's amazing that the water actually pours in and fills up space, and it'#s actually part of the game.. not just for show. You can actually use it was a weapon.

Real nice. Never really seen that before.

I know the source engine can't do water like that.

Of course not, the Source engine is super old. :p

I think the reason many of you think that the water in the beginning is a bit plasticy is because of the lighting. The fire around the crash shows a lot of light around the surface of the water, so it seems to be much more opaque than it actually is. Proof of this is how good the water looks in the rest of the demo.

Great game, can't wait to delve deeper into the demo and play it a little 'cleaner'. :)

Just played the demo... Amazing!! This is going to be one of my favourite FPS ever. The hacking puzzles were awesome! pretty easy but fun :p. And I thought the water was awesome, don't see how people could complain!!

Switching between weapons and EVOs can be a bit frustrating, especially in the middle of a heated fight with 5+ enemies. Your pistol runs out of ammo, and you try to switch to the wrench. At the same time you want to zap em, but you have your incinerate EVO equipped. All of this is happening while you're getting badly shot up and beat down by enemies and you're constantly pressing B to restore your health as you run out of health packs.

Perhaps, I should check to see if I can remap the controls.

Wierd, I didn't have any problem with the controls at all. You know you can just tap RB or LB to quickly switch between weapons and plasmids, rather than having to hold and cycle through and select.

I've been debating whether or not to upgrade my computer or buying a 360, just for this game. The demo actually pushed me over the edge into getting an Elite, last night... JUST for the demo.

As the System Shock series is my favorite of all time and after playing the demo, I would have paid 3x as much. After so many years, waiting...

The score is heartbreaking, the atmosphere and art direction is utterly sublime and the character design is incredible.

I almost squealed when I heard that Little Sister call a Big Daddy, Mr. Bubbles.

It feels like you're playing through a Fritz Lang/Orson Welles film. The escape from government, socialism and religion will carry some incredible themes that have been persistent throughout the entire "Shock" series. Namely, the irony of a group/individual controlling a seemingly better future, only for the player to find out the circumstances are far more "horrific"...

The fanatical idealist who is insanely dangerous in his/her belief. Woo SHODAN and Andrew Ryan! (Damn you, liberals! :p ;))

Then we have the whole water thing. Slowly drowning, crushed by an important element of life; parallels to Radiohead's "No Suprises" video.

Can't wait for release...

EVOLVE TODAY!

Just spotted it on marketplace. Surprised it isnt on the front page tbh. How is motogp 07 more interesting than this? I wouldnt have known until I went on new arrivals! Anyway, downloading now, been downloading for 10 minutes, 67% done. 20meg ftw.

20Meg in the UK? Who you with and where you live!?

TELL ME!

Please :)

beautiful looking demo. i was scared out of my mind the whole time. i usually don't play this type of game (i'm a big wuss) ;), but with all the hype i just had to try the demo and was blown away. i'm not getting this game simply because i'm too scared it's not my type of game, but from what i saw, this is game of the year material.

Virgin Media. They get alot of flack but there modem is flawless. Im on the 20meg and in total, took 15 minutes to get 1.3 gigs of the demo.

Yeah if you tried that yesterday, it would've taken you like 6 hours, mine took about 6-7 hours on 16mb due to how many people who downloaded, must've died down today on the amount of people all downloading it at once

What's the best way to hack those security bots? Like, how do you get them down without taking much damage?

I just electrocuted them and pressed A, I think :s At one point in the demo, there is one laying on the floor too. Perhaps you can use it?

When I first went through the demo, I found one on the floor, not really sure how it got there and was able to hack it pretty successfully. But for the others I was doing all sorts of stuff to get them down but they ended up getting destroyed I believe. Meh, I'll give it another go when I get home tonight.

I must be thick as **** or something because I struggled to hack into them!

What I didn't realise at first was that you could reveal all the boxes and used like the two you started off with etc!!! Is that what you are doing cause once you reveal a bunch of pipes its easy

I was a little skeptical about this game after watching the video thinking, hmmm energy power - ups... yeah, not my thing.

But the demo is absolutely fantastic! The graphics are superb and I was actually pretty scared as the demo played thru discovering what happened to this underwater city.

I WANT this game now!

Rich

    • Can you still click his nose in the about box?
    • In that case this product has no value to me. I'd rather use older Creative SB that were better in my opinion or onboard audio chip.
