First of all, I decided to pre-order the Limited Edition MW2 360 - That thing was looking too hot to pass up :D That's my third 360 and none of them have ever broken. On another note, new trailer released this weekend;

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=224539

when will ppl learn that fps games aren't meant for consoles...unfortunately game manufactures have crapped on pc's in recent years...development wise....they cite piracy as the biggest concern...too many rely on punkbuster for ant-hacking when they should be spending some dough on developing better countermeasures...we all know punkbuster is crap

When will people learn it's a subjective matter and not all of us are interested in that cheat-infested cesspool called online PC gaming. Playing FPS games with a controller is more than doable, when you actually learn how to use it you can compete with some PC gamers even. So that "Oh it belongs on the PC" is getting old and you need to move on, consoles have paved a road of great integration, fun and equality for all in a cheat free environment - That is above and beyond playing with a silly mouse and keyboard.

Has anyone posted this leaked video of the singleplayer Rio level:

It looks incredibly awesome!

That's the most idiotic thing I have heard in a while. Well done!

LOL...

How do people even have fun playing an fps with a controller? I feel so limited. I also find it funny you say pc gaming has too many cheaters, I remember a few months ago some hack was on cod4 for the ps3 that let people fly around like superman. If you play on the right pc servers you will never see any cheaters.

Different stokes for different folks I guess...

Yeah and that's the only time. And IW have fixed that.

Playing multiplayer on PC using a mouse is way easier than using a pad with sticks. Heck, if you can't use a gamepad, and i can..that means i can use both effectively which means i am more skilled?

Console online gaming is the way of the future...give it up PC guys :p

Why do console owners and PC owners constantly argue about stupid **** like this anyway? (I'm not talking about having a preference, the silly weighted comments like "game x CANNOT be played on platform y/with controller z"). Of course it can, everyone playing on a console does so with a controller, everyone has to learn that process, no one has an advantage. Just like on the PC everyone* plays with a keyboard/mouse. The playing field is level on either platform, it's solely a matter of preference, there is no playing advantage to be had on either platform from picking a specific control input method.

Enjoy the game on the platform you want to play it on, how is someone else playing it on another platform somehow impacting your fun? It isn't :p

*Before anyone is smart, I know 3% of the PC generation might plug in a 360 controller and play with it on the PC for whatever reason.

Yay. Awesome. Though everything ive seen so far looks awesome. My only question is why they have soundtrack from transformers? By this time Zimmers original had to be finished i thought..

I've placed my pre-order for the PC version, even though I have a choice of getting it for PS3, 360 or PC. I made my choice because I prefer playing shooters with a mouse and keyboard, plus the online component has always been superior on the PC to any of the consoles.

See my own custom made by me Avatar... I think it should definitely convey the fact that I feel KB+M Combo is the more accurate of the two, but saying an FPS cannot be played with a controller is pure and utter madness.

I can go on and on why they can be played with a controller, but I would say the most overwhelming proof is an entire generation of kids who has never even touched a keyboard and mouse, and all they know is a controller, and I can promise you they are just as efficient with the killing.

I do have to address this one thing you said Sethos as I truly disagree. Perhaps it is because I have not done so in awhile, and perhaps it is also because once the server we were playing on shut down me and my friends used to run our own Counter Strike Source server so we controlled it all, but even with games like UT2k4 and all of the Battlefields, COD's, etc. I rarely ever came across cheating when I played FPS's online on the PC.

If a game had Punk Buster, even though it was the most annoying software ever made by man, I always only searched for PunkBuster servers. I also mainly stuck to Official Servers whenever I had the chance to do so. Finally I would wind up finding some Cool Clan (that almost seems like an oxymoron as I barely ever used the words cool and clan together) and then stick to them. Most every game let you bookmark favorite servers, so sure, the first hour or two I got a game might have been spent searching servers, but once I found good ones, I bookmarked them, then never bothered with anything else. So that was my way to avoid cheaters / hackers on the PC.

You very well know it's based on nothing but luck, the games you play, the 'skill level' at which you play and all sorts of factors, so it's perhaps a bit narrow-minded to just slap a major disagreement in my face without actually seeing it from the other side of the fence properly.

I played Condition Zero for the longest time, starting out as your average pup trying to get a few kills but ended up dying most of the time. I played this game for years, slowly becoming better and better and when you play a game for that long, you see a thing or two. Back when I started the Danish community wasn't very big, we didn't really have a real CZ community at all and that forced Danish players to spend their times on foreign servers, mostly Swedish.

While many of them were properly managed, it was next to impossible to have administrators online 24/7 to keep an eye on the server, so 4-5 times a week, cheaters would pop by our bookmarked servers, the serves we have deemed "okay" and wreck havoc - That forces you to leave a perfectly good game and join another which is unacceptable! Plus these servers weren't all full, so playing during the morning and one of them might be full so once you're forced off that, you have to get find some random public server which is hell.

Few years later as I got better, I had to find more 'skill based' servers, servers where great players hung out so you could get some proper practice, THOSE servers had a MINIMUM of 3 cheaters a day because they want to show off - It's insanely hard to spot the difference between a skilled player and a cheater, so when you finally discover a cheater he has already ruined the scores and skewed the entire game and that is one of the worst things about playing on "higher levels", it's impossible for admins to spot 'em.

Same thing happened when we did actually get our own community, our own server and I got admin status - Now I have to 'waste' my time frantically recording demos of players, talking to other admins and getting the server opinion on certain players totally ruining my game.

The very first time I played Call of Duty 4 on the PC, the very first server I joined, some guy was apparently calling out targets through walls and objects so I believe he had some sort of Wallhack - Nice. Strategy games I've played against people with no Fog of War, some even told me after the match. Oh and even GPU manufactures chip in, like back when nVidia released a set of drivers that was basically a Counter-strike Wallhack ... Yes, the drivers!

I have so many examples of cheaters in pretty much every game I've played online, many of them caught or admitting them and many are based on experience with cheaters - Through my entire Online PC gaming "career" I have encounted cheaters at almost every corner some cases not as bad as others but still. It's unacceptable, it completely destroys a game and my eagerness to hop in an online game on the PC and no, having to server-jump and entire evening is not my idea of fun.

So to sum it up, it's impossible to avoid cheaters, especially if you are playing in a higher skilled environment or games where everything is speculation until the cheater is caught or admitting it, which happens quite rarely and no, most anti-cheater software is USELESS! Especially Punkbuster, it's a placebo effect that is able to catch a script or two while letting thousands of third party injectors and software through - One would be naive to think Punkbuster actually does its job or any sort of job for that matter.

Sorry that went on for a bit but cheating on the PC is one of my main gripes with the damn thing.

Sorry that went on for a bit but cheating on the PC is one of my main gripes with the damn thing.

Yeah perhaps "truly disagreed" was a strong way of putting it, as it is not like I was sitting here thinking to myself WTF is he talking about, I never meant to say I did not believe you, I just meant to convey the fact I had a completely different experience.

Did I never see cheating? Of course not, but it really was few and far between for me. So perhaps I was just incredibly lucky, perhaps it is more of a European thing (and I honestly do not know this, just speculating how I could see so little and you have seen so much), so all I can really say is if I had the same experiences that you did, I would very well hate it too.

I felt I was not being narrow minded at all is offering my side of the story and letting people who might be reading our exchange know there is indeed two sides to the story, and that it is not just a cesspool, but again I can see where you misunderstood it.

Like I said maybe I was just incredibly lucky, maybe I never realized it or saw it enough to care, but 85% of my online MP experience on the PC was positive, and most of the 15% that was not was performance related as I was obsessed with getting as many frames per second as possible.

    • Yup, that's a doozy right there 😄
    • It's a bundle of tools created by a variety of people, so things can go wrong sometimes. It's a great addition to Windows, and I use a lot of the tools on a daily basis. Also, it's still a 0.**** release so quick updates are to be expected 😉
    • Oh, I did. And it's even worse than I was hoping! Besides a lot of techno-babble jargon (yes I understand 100% of it but it's still all just techno-babble) there's 2 key points that make me super-weary about even considering testing this out. -- By default, after installation, a relay is automatically set up, so you do not need to care about that. * Non-chatmail apps use email servers as a long-term message archive while chatmail clients use email servers for ephemeral instant message relay. * Supporting the full variety of classic email setups would require considerable development and maintenance efforts, and complicate making chatmail-based messaging more resilient, reliable and fast. -- Basically, the end-user device is the 'server' (relay) so there is NO ARCHIVING whatsoever because every message is necessarily ephemeral. Great for techno-paranoia (and for illicit activities preferring no tracks to cover) but terrible for everybody else. It's also ironically contradictory to engineering principles of redundancies besides the transport layers due to the explicit absence of any persistent storage. Instead of 'classic email address' retaining multi-GB messaging archives on its server, now every device must retain 100% of those storage demands. (Email messages were originally meant to be short correspondences, not the multi-MB attachments boondoggle that now exists with unlimited spam engines flooding every potential recipient.) Any device swap or reset (or loss) makes the entire message history go bye-bye forever... lest there's an off-device auto-archival "relay" mechanism that's really a separate server that holds onto all transported messages (an email server) that utilizes 'chatmail email address' identities (like an email server) and its own persistent storage archive (like an email server). But... this solution is hoping to exist alongside real-world email address identities (based on the email server relay pathway) but simply render messages in chat thread format in an ephemeral manner (with contents being encrypted, and messages auto-expiring) ... In the end, it's a chat app/experience for the Web3/P2P-at-all-costs zealots. (I have accts on all sorts of federated web3 services so I understand the technical and non-technical alike.) For any practical users, however, it's just another service to download/install, register, cross-share id cards/qr codes, but know that there's no history/archive whatsoever (by design) so no account/message recovery whatsoever... update the device, install a bummed update patch, or dare upgrade your device... all history, poof, gone. Ya gotta start everything over again like they're a brand new person.
    • You've tried DuckDuckGo and Brave Search, now get serious with SearXNG by Paul Hill Over the last decade, it has become quite trendy to dump Google Search in favor of privacy-preserving alternatives such as DuckDuckGo, Startpage, and Brave Search. These search engines have done a very good job at highlighting dodgy practices by Google, such as adjusting search results based on what it thinks you’ll like (filter bubble) and stalking you around the web to advertise to you. While these search engines are good starting points when compared to non-private services like Google, there are still quite a few issues with them. For example, both DuckDuckGo and Brave Search require running non-free JavaScript in your web browser, which is comparable to running proprietary software on your computer, meaning you can be sure about what it’s actually doing in the background. Another issue is that these search engines are hosted on the respective companies’ servers, and you are using a service that you don’t control. Finally, DuckDuckGo, while offering privacy features, relies heavily on Microsoft’s infrastructure for its results and, in the past, has permitted Microsoft tracking scripts. If you are looking for a more private search solution than DuckDuckGo, Brave Search, and Startpage, then I recommend taking a look at SearXNG. It is a privacy-respecting metasearch engine that can be used via different public instances, which is useful for mobile users, or you can install it on your computer or server and run it locally with maximum control. Unlike Google, Bing, or Brave Search, which crawl the web and have their own search indexes, SearXNG is a metasearch engine, meaning it taps other search engines, stripping your identifying data, such as IP address, user agent, and cookies, in the process. Your search query is sent to the other search engines you enable before aggregating the results. SearXNG has deployment flexibility. If you are a casual user or a mobile user and don’t want to run SearXNG locally, you can use a public instance that is hosted by someone else. The main problem with this is that you are putting trust in the maintainer of the instance regarding stuff like logs that they may keep; good hosts should have a privacy policy explaining their policies. If you are trying to use SearXNG, you can also install the software on your device and then head to 127.0.0.1:8080 in your browser and search from there. While you don’t have to worry about a third-party admin like the public instances, search engines could ultimately block your IP address if they frown on you pulling in their search results locally. If you want to run it locally, it’s a good idea to use proxies or VPNs to hide your actual IP. You don’t have to worry about this with a public instance, as search engines never see your IP address. The main privacy benefit of using SearXNG is that it isolates your identity from the underlying engines that it’s capable of searching, such as Google and Bing. These search engines will only see requests coming from a generic server, so they can’t profile you and create a bubble filter that influences what results you see. This also ensures that your search engine doesn’t turn into an echo chamber that prevents you from reading alternative points of view. As a free software project, you are allowed to inspect SearXNG to make sure there are no negative features bundled inside. This sets it apart from the privacy search engines mentioned earlier because you can’t check their source code. As a meta search engine, you are not restricted to getting results from one source. Due to the fact that it scrapes content from other websites, your SearXNG instance will periodically get blocked from different providers, so it’s good to select a range of sources as a backup. While enabling all of the services will give you great results, this can make searching slower. I am personally happy with slower searches for the best results, but you can always check which providers are slowing down your search from the search results page and disable them to speed things up. If you want decent results quickly, enable the main search providers such as Google, Brave, DuckDuckGo, Qwant, Bing, and Yahoo. This way, you get wide coverage without the latency. On the Engines tab in Preferences, do note that there are different tabs, such as General, Images, and Videos, with their own providers that can be toggled and are not covered by "Enable all" while on the General tab, so be sure to dig into each. Just a note, if you want to enable everything, press "Enable all" in one tab, then hit save at the bottom of the page, then do the next tab, and so on. If you press "Enable all", then do that in each tab, and then save, nothing will stick. When I had just some of the search engines enabled, I searched “define nefarious” and results came back with the definition of “define” - obviously that was a sucky result. However, when I had everything enabled, it found dictionary pages for the word “nefarious” and even had an inline definition on the sidebar, which is quite nice too - that was delivered by WolframAlpha for anyone wondering! Probably the worst thing about this meta search engine is that the engines you select are saved with a cookie, so you must enable them on every new device you use SearXNG on, including if you decide to go into incognito mode with your web browser. Honestly, I would say this is the most annoying aspect, and perhaps if your browser lets you choose a separate private browsing search engine, then it would be best to use DuckDuckGo for this portion of your browsing. Another weakness of SearXNG is the random blocking of it by search providers. When you are on the results page, expand the “Response time” box, and it will show things like “Suspended: too many requests” or “access denied”. This is why it is good to enable several providers so that there is always a fallback to get results from. I won’t pretend SearXNG will be for everyone, however, if you enable all of the providers and put up with the slower response time, the results can be really amazing. Even if you don’t want to use it as your daily driver, keeping a bookmark handy that links to it is a good idea if you ever feel like doing a deep dive into a niche topic where other search engines are just failing to bring up any good result, due to the amount of sources it looks on. If you’re interested in radical user control over the software you use, installing SearXNG locally can also be a good idea, but be prepared to be temporarily blocked from sites if you trigger bot sensors without a VPN. Personally, I’ve opted to use a public instance, rather than install it myself. If you want to use it via a public instance, head over to searx.space to find a provider. Let us know in the comments if you have used SearXNG or its predecessor, Searx. What do you think about the quality of the results?
    • Dear Neowin, If it is not too much trouble, can you start using the new-ish designations for Insider Preview? "Experimental" is different than "former Dev" as it can apply to different models, eg 26H1 or 26H2 etc, right? No need to seed confusion IMHO. And, please "finally" update your graphics. OK?
