GoPro announces Wi-Fi BacPac and Wi-Fi streaming capabilities

GoPro announced the Wi-Fi remote control and video streaming accessory for their GoPro HD Hero cameras called the Wi-Fi BacPac. This new accessory clips on the back of existing GoPro HD Hero cameras (the original as well as the new Hero2) and will allow you to remotely control up to 50 cameras using the Wi-Fi remote. The remote has a wriststrap which allows the wearer to easily enable recording as well as control the camera settings. The user can control the camera using most smartphones, tablets, or computers running the free GoPro app.

The Wi-Fi BacPac also gives the user the ability to wireless stream the video feed from the GoPro HD Hero2 to a mobile device. This allows the user to now both verify the camera position as well as stream a live feed for others to enjoy. The app has not yet been shown but it should be available on most common Wi-Fi enabled devices. The pricing has not yet been announced but the kit will be available sometime in February of this year.
