Originally released on the PC and PlayStation 4 last year, Killing Floor 2 is now on its way to the Xbox One. An enhanced version of the game is also planned to be made available for Microsoft's upcoming Xbox One X console.
Developed by Tripwire Interactive, the game will launch on the Microsoft consoles with all of the title's previous content packs that have been released since its launch on the other platforms.
For anyone unfamiliar with the game, it is an extremely gory cooperative survival shooter, similar to Left 4 Dead, but instead of zombies, Killing Floor 2 has murderous clones that go by the name Zeds. Although the series' most popular game mode is its six player survival mode, the title also offers a 12 player versus mode that gives users control of specially modified Zeds to square off against the survivors.
Xbox players will be getting some timed exclusive content with the new release, including a weapon that uses liquid nitrogen to freeze enemies, aptly named the Freezethrower, as well as the Wasteland Armor uniform outfit, with color variants for both items. The press release also mentions built in support for Microsoft's streaming platform, Mixer.
Killing Floor 2 in all its gore filled glory will be available for the Xbox One on August 29 with a $39.99 price tag. Meanwhile, the Xbox One X version will launch alongside the console's release later this year with 4K support, increased performance, higher resolution textures and shadow maps, as well as increased shadow-fadeout distance.
