We are firming in the summer dolrums now as far as new PC and console games are concerned. We will only see a few games released from now until mid-August when things start to pick up again. This week's major new release is a fun arcade style shooter but there are some interesting downloadable games due out in the next seven days.
Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon - Publisher D3 brings us this latest entry in this fun third person shooter series as you have to fight off a massive alien invasion with lots of huge bugs and insects to shoot at. Players will get access to over 300 different weapons (that's not a typo) and four different types of armor to choose from (Jetpack, Battle, Tactical, and Trooper). Developer Vicious Cycle has made this game for the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles and features support for up to three players in an online co-op for its campaign mode. There's also a six player survival mode available and a two player offline split-screen co-op mode
Also due out this week is the downloadable PC version of Capcom's fighting game Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition that came out for consoles last week. Also coming this week via download is Deadliest Warrior: Legends, the second game in the action-fighting series for the Xbox 360 and PS3 based on the Spike cable TV show. Xbox 360 owners can also download and purchase Dead Block, a third person zombie action game (yes, another one) set in the 1950s.
