Customer : Why is my browser locking up?

No joke. I actually got a call from a customer because their browser was locking up on them and they didn't know why.

When I logged into their computer, this is why I saw. Also notice the out of date version of java / adobe reader and PC Optimizer icons in the bottom right.

I love how Firefox can be turned into IE6 just with some toolbars. :p
Is it really appropriate to be posting screenshots of your client's desktop? I would assume that is priviledged.
toolbars, the bane of my life, i used to hate them, a client of mine, most of there staff would download crappy wallpapers and screensavers and of course these damn things would install toolbars, they would then call to say the computers are running slow so i would have to clean them all up, it was annoying as they were all Windows 2000 machines and without that crap they used to run really quickly.
I use portable web browsers for this very reason - Installers don't know where the application data is located, which prevents them from installing crap like this. Then you just need to know how to pin portable software to the taskbar and you're golden.

It's just a screenshot of a browser with a lot of toolbars. There is nothing identifiable being displayed in that screenshot, no names, addresses, phone numbers, or locations.

So on that note, you'd post a picture you took of someone's private quarters, as long as it didn't have anything identifying points? As a business person, your customers should be able to expect a specified level of privacy.

There are business quarters, then there is a stock web browser with toolbars. It's just plain old firefox with plain old toolbars

I think posting creepshots got reddit in a lot of trouble recently, asking for someone to post photos of peoples "private Quarters" I don't think really belongs on this site
just a few more toolbars and the entire web page will be "under the fold"
I see why, it's because they are using Firefox.
Replace it with IE10 Metro :o

That's not even the same...
A browser and a toolbar will look the same. It's not identifying, it's not unique, it's not private. A house/someone's room is all three of those. Bookmarks, URLs, history, etc. would be, and something of your client's that you shouldn't share, but sharing something that billions already have access to is nothing.

Showing 7 toolbars stacked up with some outdated software and runtimes, on the other hand, just shows people's lack of understanding for security and general browsing.
With all the spyware this person has on their PC, it's not like this screenshot has done anything more to invade their privacy...

Now, if I posted something like that, it would be deleted and I would be warned.

Whether anything is identifiable or not, I wouldn't think it right to post someones else's stuff.
