The life and times of Fred,
Have a good one!

I've noticed an increase in frequency in hearing this term (i.e. departing a store, saying goodbye to a friend).

Have we become this lazy? I mean, really, is it that difficult to keep track of whether it is morning, afternoon or evening?

If you have not yet eaten lunch then chances are that it is still morning.
If you have not yet eaten dinner than chances are that it is still the afternoon.
If you have not yet gone to bed then chances are that it is still the evening.
If you are still up and about after midnight then chances are that you are slurring your words anyway.

On another note, I have something new to add to the Canadian lexicon watch.

You may be familiar for the slang term applied to a girl who likes to date hockey players. They are referred to as puck bunnies.
Well, the new term is for a girl who likes to date lacrosse players. They are referred to as lacrosstitutes.

puck bunny? only in Canada...

Also, I always say "have a good one" or "Take care".

Happens a lot here in Sydney, and my understanding of the vernacular leads me to suspect this is simply a snide double entendre.

"Have a good one" being an alias for "Have a good wank", or more precisely "Go f*** yourself".

It seems that some people who are store clerks are embittered by the fact that they are store clerks and seek solace in this ambiguous flippancy.

I can only imagine that in the near future, MSN tweens will further basterdize the phrase by turning it into 'haf a gewd 1", or something to that effect.

And lacrosstitutes... Fred, that's absolutely hilarious. I'll do my best to make sure that becomes a staple of the west coast tongue.gif. Nice one.
