Due to a phone-line problem in my new house I haven't had internet at home for over a week *twitch* so I went on somewhat of a movie binge.

MP: Holy Grail - 7/10 - It's funny.

MP: Life of Brien - 7.5/10 - It's slightly funnier.

A Goofy Movie - 8.5/10 - Probably my favorite kids cartoon.

Johnny English - 6/10 - Not very funny.

Avatar - freak'n amazing/10 - People don't like this movie being rated.

My Sisters Keeper - 7/10 - Well done but pretty typical.

Matrix 2 - blugh/10 - What a crap-fest. I didn't mind 3 though.

Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013)

Great porn movie ;) The only porn movie you'll watch for the story ...

Enter the Void (2009)

7/10

Good seizure inducing movie. Had the potential to be one of the best movie ever. Sadly was too long. Loved the first 1h30. Did not like the last hour that much. Winner of the most awesome opening credit ever.

7.5/10

Surprisingly very very good.

Carrie (2013)

Got to be one of the weirdest movie ever. Even more weird than Donnie Darko. Problem is the movie aint that great even after you understood what the **** it was all about. Still worth a watch. Winner for the most WTF ending ever.

The Grandmaster (2013)

Darren Aronofsky flowchart: Good Movie - Amazing Movie - Dud. Keep it in mind.

I don't know. He did Pi, Requiem for a dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler and Black Swan in a row. I would not call any of those a dud. The Fountain was kinda weak for a movie by him but i still liked it a lot. A bad Aronofsky is still better than a good movie by most directors. Well that was before Noah ...

Pi was good.

Requiem was great.

The Fountain was a massive dud, the Cloud Atlas of 2006. A film that couldn't hold itself under the weight of its pretentiousness passing for depth.

Noah would've been a great movie if they just made the setup part 1/3 of it's length and just give us way more Crazy Eyes Murderer Noah. Did we really need the Stone Ents at all in this?

    • Bluesky COO warns social media regulations could destroy competition from small startups by Paul Hill Fears that increasing government control of social media risks regulatory capture by the biggest social media firms were raised again recently. Bluesky’s chief operating officer said in an interview that social media bans for children and tighter regulations for social media firms risk creating a world where there are only a few social media platforms run by companies with the deepest pockets. Regulations on social media firms have been very lax since they appeared for mainstream users in the 2000’s. This gave Meta, Snapchat, and Google time to build up their user bases and get entrenched, with Meta being the most successful. Now that Meta has succeeded, it has been attempting regulatory capture. By pushing for more regulations of social media, Meta hopes to make it more difficult for rivals to challenge it. For its part, it doesn’t need to worry about the cost of regulation because it has a lot of money to spend, whereas startups do not. Speaking to CNBC, Rose Wang, Bluesky’s chief operating officer, said: “I support the protection and the safety of youth, the question that we have then is at what cost, because essentially what I’m scared of is in the long term, we’re headed to a world where there’s about three to five platforms, and extreme heavy regulation of those platforms, and basically the whole compliance teams of these platforms are 10 times the size of our entire team. So, basically, we’re living in a world where it’s almost impossible for smaller entrants to come in and build healthier spaces. These platforms have led to a place where the bottom line is the thing that drives what they do... so I understand why governments have to step in and regulate, because the platforms have done nothing right.” She said that while she is not against regulation, there needs to be more channels between the small to mid-sized players and regulators to help protect them. She says that big tech players, on the other hand, “who we know are circumventing regulation,” need to be regulated. Essentially, the Bluesky position is one of nuance, rather than absolutes. While Bluesky’s proposal may preserve competition in the social media space, it still doesn’t address the massive privacy implications these age verification measures introduce, such as handing over sensitive identity documents to access age-gated content.
