Daily Gaming: January 31, 2011

The start of the week is always slow for gaming news, but we do have a couple of new releases announced: SEGA Rally Online Arcade for XBLA and PSN and Angry Birds Rio for the iPad and iPhone, both to be released later in the year. In other news, we see a delay to both Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars and Dungeon Defenders for the PC.

General News

SEGA Rally Online Arcade Announced

SEGA announced the upcoming release of SEGA Rally Online Arcade earlier today. The game will be released on both the PlayStation Network and on Xbox LIVE Arcade and will contain all of the features that players loved in the original, including Championship Battles and Time Attack.

SEGA Rally Online Arcade will also feature an online racing mode that will let gamers take on up to five other drivers. There will also be up to 13 different rally cars to choose from and a new achievement system when the game is released later in the year.

Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars delayed

According to Joystiq, Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars has been delayed by a month. Instead of coming out on February 15 as planned, it will now land in stores on March 22nd. As the title suggests, the game is set during the clone wars battles and is based on the cartoon TV series rather than the films.

iPhone/iPad/iPod touch news

Angry Birds Rio announced

It seems that the next version of Rovio's massively popular Angry Birds series of games will be based on the upcoming film Rio, produced by Twentieth Century Fox. Angry Birds Rio will be released in March, around the same time as the film makes its premier. To celebrate, the company has posted up a sneak preview of the story at http://rio.angrybirds.com.

Windows News

Dungeon Defenders delayed

A tweet from Dungeon Defenders developers Trendy Entertainment states that the game will be released in late March/early April. The delay means that the PC version will now be released slightly after console gamers get a hold of it. Dungeon Defenders has already been released for both the iPhone and iPad. The PC and console versions are expected to offer not only improved graphics, but also a much improved and less cluttered UI.
