HP announces new Envy and ZBook laptops aimed at creators

Today, HP is announcing a whole bunch of new laptops that are aimed at creators. Ultimately, anyone that has a passion for doing something can be empowered to do it with a computer, and that's HP's take on creator PCs. The new laptops are from the ZBook and Envy lineups.

The two new ZBook mobile workstations are the ZBook Studio and the ZBook Create. HP says that the Studio is the most powerful mobile workstation per cubic centimeter, and that the Create is the smallest 15-inch laptop for creation and gaming.

They include options for either 10th-gen Intel Core or Intel Xeon processors, and you can choose between Nvidia GeForce or Quadro graphics. There's a Z Power Slider for adjusting between performance and battery life, and it lets you optimize for your specific task. It also has a new vapor cooling chamber and liquid crystal polymer fans, for "gaming-class thermals".

The screen is means to be nearly bezel-less, and it's a 22% reduction in footprint from the previous generation. HP is also claiming the world's best audio experience in a 15.6-inch laptop with its Bang & Olufsen speakers.

Also notable is that these are the first mobile workstations to include ocean-bound plastics. This was something that HP started doing with its Elite Dragonfly, and is committed to doing in its products.

And then there's the Envy 15. This laptop packs 45W Intel Core H-series processors, Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics, and more. It promises a minimalist aluminum design, and an option for a 4K OLED display. That screen will get you DisplayHDR True Black, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 100,000:1 contrast ratio, and 400-nit brightness.

One feature that may fly under the radar here is HP QuickDrop, a feature that lets you transfer files between your PC and other devices. Unlike some other solutions, those other solutions includes iOS, along with Windows, Android, and so on. QuickDrop is exclusive to the new Envy 15.

And then there's the rest of the Envy lineup, which is all getting more minor refreshes. The Envy 13 is getting 10th-gen CPUs and GeForce MX330 graphics, the Envy x360 13 is getting AMD Ryzen 4000 processors, the Envy x360 15 is getting 10th-gen Intel CPUs and MX330 graphics or AMD Ryzen 4000 processors, and the Envy 17 is getting 10th-gen Intel processors and MX330 graphics.

Both ZBook laptops will be available in August, and pricing will be announced later. The Envy 15 is coming in June, starting at $1,349.99, while the Envy 13 is coming in early May starting at $999.99, the Envy 17 is available now starting at $1,099.99, the Envy x360 13 is coming in early May starting at $699.99, and the Envy x360 15 is coming in early May starting at $699.99.
