Megaupload inspired Xbox Live Indie game released

The Megaupload file sharing web site may be shut down but users who want to take out their frustrations about this case in a strange and funny way now have a new outlet. A game development team called Bionic Thumbs has released a new Xbox Live Indie game for Microsoft's Xbox 360 console called MegaUP: Upload if you can!

The game's official description makes it sound like you are going to play the Internet file sharing version of The A-Team:

In 2012 four men owners of a known uploader web were sent to prison by the government of freedom for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from prision (sic). Today, still wanted by the government of freedom, they survive as uploaders of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire them.

The single player game is a platformer-style side scroller where you control a character trying to evade capture from the Internet S.W.A.T. team by running and jumping over various obstacles. As you can see, the game's creators are not exactly subtle about their feelings toward the Megaupload case.

MegaUP is now available to purchase for 80 Microsoft Points, although you can also download a free demo. Is it a good game? Well, no. It does play and look like this was slapped together in a few days (which in fact it was). But perhaps some people can play the game and feel like they are battling the forces that have shut down the real Megaupload site.
