Microsoft updates Bing iOS app with new features

Microsoft has already been busy on the Bing front this week, introducing an all new logo along with some new features for its search site. Today, the company launched a revamped Bing app for iOS devices that adds some new features of its own, just time time for the release of iOS 7 and the launch of some new iPhones.

The Bing blog states the new iOS app now has four new tiles that have been added to its homepage. Two of them link to Bing Trends, to allow users to quickly find the latest trending news and photos on the Internet. Another new tile helps to find nearby businesses, while the fourth looks up the local weather forecast.

There's also a new share button on the app that can save a screenshot of a search result page, homepage image or a image found using Bing. Those shots can then be shared with friends who use Twitter and/or Facebook. Finally, the app has a new menu with a number of different options. Microsoft says:

Browse saved images, screenshots and bookmarks and sign-in with a Microsoft account to sync them to Skydrive or your iPad app. Click ‘More Microsoft apps’ to explore additional options in the iOS store including Office Mobile, Skydrive, OneNote and more.

In June, it was revealed that Bing will be the default search engine for Siri in iOS from now on.
