Samsung unveiled its Linux on DeX program in late 2017 alongside the Galaxy S8 series as part of efforts to provide desktop-like experience to the users of its Galaxy smartphones and tablets. It enables users to run Linux-based systems like Ubuntu on their mobile device within the DeX environment, thus allowing them to replace their traditional desktops if they so choose.
It was initially available only on the Galaxy Note9 and Tab S4 devices in addition to the Galaxy S8. Thankfully for the users of Samsung's newer devices, Linux on Dex has received a new update on the Google Play Store that adds compatibility with the Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy S10 devices, and the Galaxy Tab S5e.
The update is available to download on the Play Store, but you will need to sign up for the beta program in order to access the app. Galaxy S9 users must also be on the latest version of Android in order to run the program. As part of the update, an issue with the Ubuntu image download through Chrome version 72 and newer has also been fixed.
