Samsung took the wraps off its latest flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab S7 series. Details of the device have leaked extensively, but we finally have an official look. The device comes in two sizes – an 11-inch and a 12.4-inch model – with the larger of the two called the Tab S7+ sporting a super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate display, while the smaller one sports an LTPS TFT display.
One of the interesting new features includes the ability to run three apps simultaneously. It mimics the functionality added to the original Galaxy Fold. The device now also comes with a Book Cover Keyboard that lets users position the tablet in a multitude of angles – just like the Surface Pro line – and use the keyboard to leverage Samsung DeX improvements, making it easier to use function keys and multitask.
The Galaxy Tab S7+ line also supports the new S Pen and improved latency, improving the pen experience on the high refresh rate display. The company announced three new apps that leverage the S Pen improved capabilities, including the new Clip Studio Paint app that will be coming to Android for the first time, on the Galaxy Tab S7 line.
Samsung is also collaborating with Microsoft to sync Samsung Notes with Microsoft OneNote and Outlook. Additionally, users can also sync reminders with Microsoft To Do, which can then be directly dragged into Outlook on the web. Another benefit to the partnership with the Redmond giant brings benefits to gaming on the tablets, with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate bringing more than 100 games to the devices through xCloud, the cloud game streaming service.
Other capabilities of the device include syncing files with files between other Galaxy devices using Samsung Flow, which also includes call and message continuity features. The devices can also be used as a secondary display using Wireless Display that includes touch and pen support.
The flagship tablets bring 5G support, thanks to the Snapdragon 865+ processor, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM, making it a potent device for what the firm calls “PC-like” experience. The Tab S7 and Tab S7+ will be made available in the U.S. starting this fall for an asking price of $649.99 and $849.99, respectively. Color options include Mystic Black, Mystic Silver and Mystic Bronze.
