Now if someone could tell me the main difference between Ultimate and business that would be great. I was going to order Technet later this week but if there isnt that much of a difference then Ill stick with the free biz. thanks

Differences between Ultimate and Business is that with Business you do not get Windows Media Center and Windows Photo Gallery both of which you do get with Ultimate.

yeah prob u will be able to upgrade. cost ~259$ usd

you're not serious right?

Vista Business (full edition) costs $299, Vista Ultimate (full edition) costs $399.

...therefore, I would assume the upgrade cost would be just about $100.

We shall see for sure though.

actually that makes a lot of sense. except i thought that ultimate was $499? or im just getting confused.

i remember that the pricing for upgrading was posted on neowin, most prob on front page. i cant seem to find it anywhere. but i was almost sure that business to ultimate costs $259.

im missing some features in the free Business like MediaCenter and DVDMaker. I actually prefer my system to be clean without the need of built in rubbish. The only thing im going to really miss is media center. Ive always wonder that XPMediaCenter is different from XPPro/Home how? Only with a missely new skin, (which was backported) and just a new media player, hence MediaCenter and a hefty additional pricetag. So isn?t it possible to backport MediaCenter to previous versions, in this case from Ultimate to Business? There must be a folder or file somewhere around System32 that contains these files. How come everything else has been ported except for this? When media center fox p came out Ive always waited for a release like this but none came out?Currently free MediaPortal is good but is choppy, requires a lot of ram and crashes a lot. Any comments is appreciated. Thx.

No. Mediacenter is built into the OS. I am willing to bet that MS modified the kernel at least a little bit. Probably to make the system files only able to run on WinXPMCE. Believe me, I've looked. They want you to buy MCE. Not get a port of it. They lose money on having you buy just the media center software. That's not actually worth that much. It's similar to stores wanting you to buy bundles for the Wii. And not just selling the Wii and the games separately. They stand to make more money. Now, they lower the price of the bundle just so you buy it. If you buy it, they can guarantee that much more revenue. That is to say, they can't force you to buy five separate games. But if they're in a bundle, it's a different story. Catch my drift?

It would make sense the WMC could be built into the Business OS especially for those advertising and media companies that are heavy into graphic design and all that **** that would be enticed and want to upgrade, it would already be onto their OS, just need to unlock it! I'm probably way off here though.

    • Ridiculous claim that the labor cost difference of $6000 annually would increase cost per phone by $200. The employees produce 3 phones per month or what?
