Among Us VR unveiled, 'I Expect You To Die' studio Schell is developing

The smash-hit social deduction game Among Us is returning in a new form, this time taking the accusations and ejections into virtual reality. Announced during The Game Awards 2021 show, it is heading to SteamVR supporting headsets, PlayStation VR, and the Meta Quest 2. Catch the trailer above.

This isn't a simple port of the 2D game, as the experience is being built from the ground up for VR by the acclaimed virtual reality studio Schell Games, who has previously developed the two I Expect You To Die games and Until You Fall. The original Among Us developer Innersloth is also involved in the development.

It looks like the iconic gameplay will remain the same, with murderous imposters hiding among a crew of astronauts who are attempting to complete objectives. Innersloth went on to say "This new 3D experience will place you and our suspicious spacebeans in the heart of the Skeld, with all of the core mechanics of teamwork and betrayal you know and love."

As expected, Among Us VR owners will only be able to play with other VR players, without any connection to the community in the regular 2D version. A release date was not announced today, unfortunately.
