Gamers who like to get something for (possibly) nearly nothing have yet another way to get five acclaimed indie games for the price of, well, whatever you want to pay for them. The Humble Bundle team has launched the Humble Indie Bundle 3 event that will last for the next two weeks. Despite the name, this is actually the fourth time that the Humble Bundle team has offered such a deal. The first two Humble Indie Bundle deals are similar to today's bundle but earlier this year the team also released the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle featuring games from just one developer.
The games that are a part of Humble Indie Bundle 3 include the 2D physics puzzle game Crayon Physics Deluxe, the puzzle title Cogs, the platformer game VVVVVV, the 2D action game Hammerfight and the physics based platformer And Yet it Moves. Normally buying all five of these games will cost over $50. The games are all DRM free and come in PC, Mac and Linux flavors. As with the previous Humble Indie Bundle events you can also choose to donate money to two charities, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Child's Play.
Even with the "pay what you want" business model and the brief time the bundle itself is available, history shows that previous deals have generated lots of revenue. The first Humble Indie Bundle brought in $1.25 million while the second generated $1.8 million in revenue. The Humble Frozenbyte Bundle generated just under $1 million in revenue. Earlier this year the Humble Indie Bundle team received $4.7 million in venture capital money from Sequoia Capital.
