RealVNC 5.2.3

VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is remote control software which allows you to view and interact with one computer (the "server") using a simple program (the "viewer") on another computer anywhere on the Internet.

VNC remote access and control technology enables you to connect to and control a computer over a network such as the Internet. You can view the computer's desktop, run applications, change settings, access data, and use the keyboard and mouse exactly as you could do were you sitting in front of that computer. To establish a VNC connection, two components are required: VNC Server for the computer you want to control, and VNC Viewer for the device you want to exercise control from. You run VNC Viewer, connect to VNC Server, authenticate, and take control.

VNC (free) is freeware for individual private use.

What's new in this version:

Windows

  • FIXED: Accept/reject prompts now appear correctly if a host computer user logs out while VNC Viewer users are connecting.

UNIX

  • FIXED: Re-installing or upgrading VNC on certain platforms no longer results in duplicate PAM entries that can prevent connections.
  • FIXED: The VNC Server in Virtual Mode daemon (vncserver-virtuald) no longer crashes the host computer if VNC parameters or Xvnc options in configuration files are specified in the wrong format.

Mac OS X

  • The TryLegacyCaptureMethod VNC parameter can be set to 1 if screen corruption is experienced when connected to headless servers running OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
