Report: EA in talks to bring Apex Legends to China under Tencent

The newest battle royale title to hit the ground running, Apex Legends, may be heading to a brand new market. A new report from South China Morning Post today says that EA is in talks with Chinese giant Tencent to bring the game to the country officially.

Tencent already has its fingers in multiple massively popular battle royale titles, owning stakes in both Fortnite maker Epic Games and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds studio Bluehole. If the report turns out to be true, Tencent could soon have another hit on its hands that it's publishing in China.

The report comes through an anonymous source speaking to the publication, and neither EA nor Tencent have made any official announcement regarding a partnership, so take this with a grain of salt for now.

Respawn recently revealed that Apex Legends had well over two million concurrent players during its first weekend, with the game reaching the impressive 25 million total players milestone in just a week. All signs point to EA having a massive free-to-play hit on its hands, and an incursion to China will only expand its reach.
