winLAME is an easy to use encoder for many audio formats, including MP3, Opus, Ogg Vorbis and more. winLAME lets you read in audio tracks from CDs or encode audio files from your hard drive. The intuitive wizard-style user interface makes it easy to set up encoding settings. Multicore CPUs are used to parallelize encoding tasks.
winLAME supports reading audio tracks from CDs. Thefreedb.org database and Cover Art Archive can be used to get track and artist information about the CDs, so that you don't have to type in the track names. The format for track names can be customized to the filename schema that you prefer.
winLAME can transfer tag metadata from audio tracks (ID3 tags, ID3v2 tags, WAVE INFO chunk, APE tags) to the encoded file, preserving the metadata from the original files. The following infos are transferred: Track title, Artist, Disc artist, Album name, Track comment, Genre, Year of recording and Track number.
winLAME supports many other audio formats, both for reading in and also for encoding. Supported file extensions are: WAV, AIFF, AU, AVR, CAF, FLAC, HTK, IFF, MAT, MPC, OGA, PAF, PVF, RAW, RF64, SD2, SDS, SF, VOC, W64, WVE, XI, MOD, S3M, XM, IT, MTM, MO3, UMX, WMA, ASF.
winLAME supports the current state-of-the-art audio formats, most of them both for encoding and decoding. Among them are:

winLAME 2017 Beta 2 changelog:
- Fix for bug when encoding many files on a multi-core CPU, where files couldn't be written properly and winLAME eventually crash. See bug #67.
- Possible fix for writing output files with Cyrillic or other non-ASCII characters. See bug #66.

- New libsndfile library 1.0.28, a bugfix release (see libsndfile homepage)
- Support for 32-bit sample path when using LAME 3.100 (not released yet) and an input module that also supports 32-bit samples (FLAC, MAD mp3, Monkey's Audio, libsndfile).
- Fixed bug when encoding reported an error and the output file is overwritten, even if it doesn't need to be.
- Tags: Reading and writing of AlbumArtist and Composer tag info is now supported for MP3, Opus, Ogg Vorbis and WMA.
