It was several months ago that T-Mobile introduced a new service to its customers that would identify and even try to eliminate suspicious or spam calls from ever reaching your phone. Today, it was announced that the service would be rolling out to the network's prepaid alternative, MetroPCS, and will be available to all customers for free starting July 25.
Scam ID and Scam Block gives customers the power to filter out and prevent unwanted calls. Scam ID will alert customers when a call comes in from a suspicious number, while Scam Block will prevent these types of calls from ever reaching a client's phone. The carrier is able to provide these services by using patent-pending technology that is triggered every time a call enters the network. The phone number is analyzed against a regularly updated database, and once identified, the call is either purged or pushed to the customer.
Since launching the service on T-Mobile, the service has flagged or blocked an astounding 243 million calls, with only 0.2% of suspicious calls making their way through. If you are a MetroPCS customer and would like to take advantage of this free service, be sure to enable it from your handset starting on July 25 by dialing "#662#" from your handset. In order to check whether the service is enabled, you can dial "#787#".
