Nokia 8, the company's upcoming flagship phone, was announced by HMD Global less than a week ago. Surprisingly though, a release date in some major markets like the US and China wasn't discussed, leaving many to doubt if the device would even make its way to the aforementioned markets. Now, some unnamed sources claim that HMD is planning to launch customized variants of the phone in the US and China.
According to these sources, the Chinese variant may come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory. Some more changes are possibly in tow as well, though specific details haven't emerged as of yet. Although not much is known about the US variant yet, it might feature more RAM than is available in the standard version for the global market.
Interestingly, the Chinese variant of the Nokia 6 featured a 4GB RAM / 64GB internal storage configuration, while the global variant came with 3GB of RAM only, further supporting the theory of a similar occurrence in the case of the Nokia 8.
It is possible that HMD is assigning a much higher priority to the Chinese market. Apparently, the US market doesn't rank too high on the company's list of potential ventures. It remains to be seen how this could affect the imminent release of the Nokia 8, and could possibly indicate a Chinese launch ahead of the US.
However, it is important to note that there has obviously been no confirmation regarding the rumor by HMD Global, so it is advisable to take this piece of news with a rather large grain of salt.
