AT&T announces that it will bring 5G to three new U.S. cities

The race to 5G cellular service has been going on for quite some time, with multiple companies touting that its service will roll out "soon". As we wait for the faster service to arrive, AT&T has been announcing areas where its 5G service will roll out this year. The wireless carrier previously detailed that 5G would be launching in Dallas, Atlanta, and Waco. Today, it has added three new cities to that list with Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina and Oklahoma City.

AT&T stated that it is deliberately mixing things up when it comes to the size of cities it chooses for the roll out, wanting to allow smaller and mid-sized cities the chance to experience 5G.

Melissa Arnoldi, who is president of AT&T Technology & Operations, states:

"We're on track to launch the first mobile 5G services and deliver the first device to customers this year. 5G will be more than just a better network. Especially after our trial learnings with large enterprises, small-and-medium sized businesses and residential locations the past two years, we believe 5G will ultimately create a world of new economic opportunity, greater mobility, and smarter connectivity for individuals, businesses and society as a whole."

AT&T's 5G Evolution technology is currently live in more than 140 markets. The company has plans to expand to 400+ markets by the end of this year. The wireless carrier is confident that it will be the first to provide the new technology in the United States.
