What was the last movie you watched? (2013 Edition)

Wahlberg looks like really bad photoshop.

Its like they took the body of a body builder and assign to a kid the task to paste Wahlberg's head on top.

He's actually really built-up for this movie. It surprised me too.

3.5 / 10

A lot of this was filmed in my home town, with Brad Pitt even ordering 700 pasties for the extras. However, it was still a terrible film. The cinematography was average to poor, the plot was appalling and there just wasn't anything to make it enjoyable to watch. It was like Resident Evil only done badly.

I can't agree with these 3/4 out of 10 scores.  I think that is disappointment kicking in.  It wasn't great, but it had "good" points....I think 6 months down the line people would see this as what it is....distinctly average.

Last film I watched was "The World's End".  The end of the Cornetto Trilogy left me feeling like I wished they hadn't bothered.

It was like a football team who have a few good results through hard work, and then you see them with some fast cars and designer clothes....then the next outing tney have they think they've already won.

The slide into "the event" is so car-wreckingly awful it just put me off.

Great character of Gary King...shame we didn't get more into the character and his emptiness which this film seemed to base it's plot on.  We never really got to see it.  Shame.

I give it a 5/10.  The worst of the 3 for me.

No, the film really is that bad. It was let down by the CGI, plot, cinematography, pacing and atmosphere. By the end I just couldn't take it seriously. To me it represents everything that is wrong with modern blockbusters. Obviously it is a popular film and has been commercially successful but I really didn't enjoy it at all and found myself actively disliking it.

I certainly don't think it's been as successful as they wished.  The first 20 minutes for me were really rather good (bar the CGI).  I got that intense feeling of fear and desperation as our guys raced through the streets trying to keep safe.

The plot and the gallivanting around the world was a tad far fetched for me.  It COULD have been so much more, I agree....but it was an average flick for me.

It made more money than the recent Star Trek film, which was the most successful in the history of the franchise. That's got to be more than they were expecting. Considering a sequel is in the works I think it's fair to consider it a commercial success.

You see I wasn't at all impressed from the beginning. The idea of running zombies that can infect people in less than twelve seconds eliminated any hope of tension, especially when combined with CGI that simply wasn't at all convincing. There was no immersion in the setting or emotional investment in the characters and the outcome was predictable from very early on.

War Z - 7/10

I found it pretty enjoyable, far better than the people slating it in this thread.  I love all this talk of cinematography and plot criticism, it's a zombie film FFS, not a remake of Night of the Hunter.

I think the only zombie flick I can truly give mass credit to the cinematographer for is 28 Days Later, that was pretty special.

Next on the list is to re-watch La Haine... but in a more attentive and slightly more sober state!

    • Thanks, Sony and Nintendo, you effectively killed platform-agnostic gaming. Long gone are the days when you could wish to play a specific game on whatever platform you were. Now, you have to buy the hardware just to play that single game. What, you're only interested in THAT game and nothing more? Bad luck, suck it and buy our console.

    • "CRAZIER than ever!" Crazy Taxi: World Tour is officially coming soon by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sega announced it is working on bringing back some of its classic franchises in 2023, and while it has taken some time, the company finally gave fans a look at one of these new projects at the Xbox Games Showcase today, which turned out to be a brand-new Crazy Taxi entry. Watch the debut trailer above, which has snippets of gameplay in between the cinematic bits while blasting a track from The Offspring. Dubbed Crazy Taxi World Tour, this installment is aptly being described as being "CRAZIER than ever!" The director behind the original, Kenji Kanno, is helming this new entry as well, which will come with access to five new cities to drive in, competitive multiplayer modes, a vehicle customization system, and more. Axel is returning as a protagonist as well, but this time a mystery driver is offering him the opportunity to take his adventures to the streets in other countries. This will involve Axel chasing down masked villains that have somehow stolen his taxi, which means even more extreme missions and challenges to overcome. "From transporting passengers at top speed to tackling unique side missions and odd jobs across dynamic maps, there are countless ways to drive crazy and rake in big money," says Sega about this new installment after over 20 years. "Perform outrageous drifts, catch insane air, and drive at crazy speeds across five different cities as you work to deliver passengers and complete a variety of missions and challenges." The studio has even confirmed an in-game Arcade Mode that players will be able to access containing the original games for plenty of nostalgic action. Crazy Taxi: World Tour is currently slated to release sometime in 2027 across PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
    • This and Crazy Taxi are the two games that interested me the most from this showcase.
