What was the last movie you watched? (2013 Edition)

Both as a movie admirer and as a teacher I must say that few films have moved with such power. A near flawless meditation on the education system and the flawed but -most of the times- committed individuals that work on it.

Whoa a solid cast, might have to catch this

Do that, first time I see Lucy Liu acting -like, really acting-. The only bad thing is that Craston appears for about only two minutes.

Bounty Killer

The single most stupid movie I've seen so far (holding Machete Kills as I haven't seen it yet)

Terrible acting, absolute crap for a storyline, green screen effects substandard.

I LOVED IT :p

Now I have to see this! It must be like in those spaghetti westerns how what we'd call 'bounty hunters' were always called 'bounty killers', which is probably more accurate.

I really enjoyed this, Sam Rockwell gives a great performance and is perfect as this character.  Allison janey is also a crackup as comedic relief in the film.  Interesting to see Steve Carell play the bastard.  This has a kind of Adventureland vibe to it but much better although I would have to say Adventureland had a better soundtrack throughout the film.

Best haunted house film I have seen in a long while, tension build up and execution were all very well done.  No gore, no torture porn just good old fashioned demonic hijinx.

Yeah didn't think much of this, kind of like twilight with a hotter lead actress who has a range of emotions greater than sour and sad and somewhat better action sequences.

None of your images are showing.  At least I can't see them.

I think it would be fairer to say it leans more towards a 'Mad Max' style of movie than a spaghetti western. With dark humour :)

I also just watched this, 8/10. Very powerful and emotional film. Loved it. I also agree about the Cranston Cameo.. it wasn't really needed IMO.

Thanks, it looks good. I liked the Mad Max films. The reviews for this look quite good, at least in terms of my sort of film!

Its been mentioned before that Malwarebytes has a block on some image sites, if that helps.

Not using Malwarebytes, thanks for the info though.   The image links show in the quote and when I copy the links into their own browser window they are viewable.  I don't block anything on Neowin.  I didn't think IMDB or Fanpop allowed image linking.

P.S.  Now they are showing after a few refreshes, weird.

Monsters University  - 6.5 / 10 - It was a bit boring, not bad though.

The way, Way Back - 6 / 10 - I enjoyed Sam Rockwell's character but everything else reminded me of just watching real life, which was technically quite good, but not why I watch movies.

    • AMD is supported out of the box in linux because of their open source driver. Nvidia does not. All my systems are amd and all of them work nicely on linux arch without doing anything.
    • Never had a problem with TPM and started using that many years ago in Win10. Through several motherboards and OS versions, it just does what it does without complaint. My games library doesn't even know it's there. Secure boot does a lot more than support anti-cheat, as it came along long before anti-cheat software. I've used it religiously since before I started using TPM, and I always liked it for being able to nullify virus contagions that try their best to come in underneath the firmware during boot, so that the OS doesn't see them, etc. That is its purpose, imo. I'll never understand why people who elect to use another OS feel compelled to run down Windows... I guess they need to do that to feel secure about their choices? I run Windows because it supports all the software (including games) natively that I want to buy, and I've never had to run down another OS to make me feel better about it. (Although it's certainly possible to do that, of course...) Win10 is on a ventilator atm, and Win11 is very close to being free, and I finally got to stop running StartAllBack as I moved to the Experimental/Dev channel and my 26300.8553 build supports the moveable taskbar and it's running fine at the top of the screen! Finally, my last major dislike of Win11 is being rectified! So, I'm not at all surprised to see Win11's share of the Steam survey hitting 70%.
    • I can answer about the Linux bit. I only used AMD GPUs. I currently have a 9060XT (8GB) that fits my needs, I'm not a gamer, so I don't need that much GDDR. But lately, NVIDIA has grown a lot in the recent years. Oh, the horrors of NVIDIA drivers not working. But they have been getting better. I know a lot of members onm here that are running cachyOS and other distros, and are fine with a 4090/5090 variants. Really, though, I would stick with AMD variants.
    • Everything they say you can already do yourself on the registry by changing some things.
    • Artist's renderings are so much nicer to view than the real thing, don't you think?
