HTC Ocean will arrive as the HTC U 11 and will also be offered in an array of colors

While the HTC U codenamed Ocean has graced the internet in a few leaks over the past several months, it really hasn't reached the levels of Samsung's Galaxy S8 or LG's G6, whose leaks were fairly rampant leading up to their launch. Now it appears that HTC's latest handset will officially arrive as the HTC U 11 and will be offered in five different colors.

According to VentureBeat, the device will still remain part of the U line, but will also be celebrated as the successor to last year's HTC 10. The HTC U 11 will join the Ultra U and U Play that made their debut earlier in the year. While the U Ultra was touted as something new and exciting, its older Snapdragon 821 processor, uninspired secondary display, and high price, didn't sit well with consumers.

If the rumors are to be believed, the U 11 should be a bit more exciting, since it will offer Qualcomm's latest processor, alongside a unique feature that will allow users to interact with menu items using touch sensitive bezels that are being dubbed Edge Sensors. The device will also try and up the ante with an HDR+ mode for the camera, giving users the ability to live preview images with HDR applied. It may also come with an array of microphones that will allow users to capture richer audio. Furthermore, it will allegedly be IP57 water and dust resistant, but will not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack.

As part of the U line, it will share the same glossy exterior and will most likely have a glass rear panel. HTC has confirmed that it will reveal more details about a handset on May 16, which will live streamed.
