Today, Lenovo announced that it's refreshing its ThinkStation P-series workstations, from the P330 Tower to the ThinkStation P920. They'll now be offered with Nvidia's new Quadro RTX GPUs, with "real-time ray tracing and AI-enhanced workflows".
The company called out Epic Games, which has its Unreal Engine for creating "games, simulations and visualizations, films and broadcast content."
“At Epic, we are constantly striving to set new visual fidelity standards with Unreal Engine to empower architects, designers and engineers to create fully interactive experiences that convey the creative intent behind their designs,” said Marc Petit, General Manager, Unreal Engine Enterprise at Epic Games. “Lenovo understands the needs of the Unreal Engine community, offering AEC professionals powerful workstation solutions featuring the new NVIDIA Quadro RTX cards that enable the development of photorealistic real-time applications.”
Lenovo says that with the RT and Tensor cores in the new 'Turing' GPUs, you can render in real-time, rather than in simulation. That means that rather than waiting minutes or hours for renders to be completed, you get instant viewing, so you don't even have to stop working.
The firm didn't specify exactly when the refreshed workstations will arrive, or what the pricing will be, but you should be able to buy one soon.
