Huawei's Mate 20 X 5G will be released this month

Huawei has been dealing with some problems as a result of the ban placed on it by the United States government, but the company is still working on releasing new phones. This includes a 5G variant of the Mate 20 X, which has been confirmed for release later this month, as reported by VentureBeat.

When Huawei announced the Mate X back in February, it was expected that it would be the company's first 5G device, but since that device was delayed, it looks like the Mate 20 X 5G will instead be first. On the outside, this 5G variant will share a lot with the original model released late last year - it has the same 7.2-inch AMOLED display and the same camera setup. It will come in a new jade color, though, and have a 5G logo on the back.

It will also have the same Kirin 980 chipset, but it comes with the new Balong 5000 5G modem that was announced earlier this year. It also bumps up the RAM to 8GB and the storage to 256GB, up from 6GB and 128GB, respectively.

The phone will launch in some European countries, as well as China and the UAE. Huawei says it will launch the phone in China on July 26, but UAE carrier Etisalat already has the phone up for pre-order with an expected launch tomorrow, July 12. Amazon Italy also has the phone available for pre-order, with availability expected on July 22, and it costs €1,100.90 ($1239.17). Other release dates aren't completely clear, but some carriers, such as Vodafone in the UK, have previously announced it would be available eventually.
