Microsoft launches My Workspace toolbar app for Office365 users on macOS

Microsoft has launched a new toolbar app for macOS called My Workspace that plugs into Office 365, bringing quick access to apps, files, and information to the macOS menu bar.

The free product is a Garage project, an outlet for experimental projects at Microsoft, reportedly developed by a team of interns over four months in Vancouver, Canada. It also appears to be the first Garage project ever built for macOS, though some previous projects have been available on iOS.

The My Workspace app sits in the toolbar area and includes an overview of your day at a glance as well as a list of calendar items to let you join Skype meetings or RSVP to events. Like Dropbox or OneNote, My Workspace also shows a list of recently used files, with the ability to pin important ones or just open them up straight from the app. There’s also shortcuts to popular Office 365 settings, and the ability to pin Office Mac apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook.

In addition, the fly-out includes a shortcut to let you access your recent OneDrive files which can be accessed "only a click away." The app is available to download here.
