Steve Jobs' life could be adapted to be shown on the big screen. Deadline.com reports that Sony Pictures has acquired the movie rights to "Steve Jobs", the upcoming biography of the late Apple CEO. The biography, written by Walter Isaacson, is scheduled to be released on October 24 and is based in large part on extensive interviews with Jobs before he died on Wednesday evening. Deadline claims that Mark Gordon will be the producer of the "Steve Jobs" movie.
Previously the only filmed version of Steve Jobs' career was Pirates of Silicon Valley, the 1999 TV movie shown on the TNT cable TV network. Noah Wyle portrayed Jobs in that movie. In a new article at CNN Money, Wyle writes about talking with and later meeting Jobs after the movie aired. Jobs apparently hated the movie but liked Wyle in the role. Wyle later famously got up on stage at Macworld in 1999 to start its annual keynote as Jobs before the real man came on stage to show Wyle how to really play Steve Jobs.
In related news, yet another book about Jobs is being rushed out ahead of schedule. News.com reports that "I, Steve: Steve Jobs in His Own Words" will go on sale next week from Agate Publishing. The book was originally scheduled for released in November. It will have over 200 quotes and statements from Jobs covering many different topics. The book will be published without any official authorization or endorsement from Jobs, his family or Apple.
