Microsoft is working on a new type of computing device called HoloLens which will bring holograms to the world around you. While we do not know when this device will be released to consumers, what appears to be the first app that is targeted at this device, is now in Microsoft's App store.
The app, called Microsoft IT Showcase, is about as dry as the name sounds but what's interesting is that on the app's page, there is a view for HoloLens screenshots; this appears to be the first, or one of the first apps to officially call-out support for the new device.
Technically, Microsoft has said that all modern apps can run on device but so far, most of the current apps by Microsoft have not specifically announced support for HoloLens in this way. While we would love to think that this is a pre-cursor to an upcoming release, it's hard to tell at this time.
You can check out the app right now in the app store by searching for "IT Showcase" but the screenshots don't provide anything exciting.
If nothing else, this does show how Microsoft will likely show off the many different app views for its new Universal apps.
