As it usually does towards the end of each month, Microsoft has shared a look at the additions and updates made to Microsoft 365 over the course of February. The highlight of this month's updates is the general availability of the unified Office mobile app on iOS and Android, which was released last week.
Aside from that, there are some improvements to the collaboration experience across the Office suite. For PowerPoint, the comment system has been improved with the ability to add comments to objects, use @mentions, and better comment discoverability. This feature will actually be available starting next month to all Office 365 users.
Visio is also getting collaboration improvements with support for real-time co-authoring. Plan 1 and Plan 2 subscribers can access the Visio website to get started. What's more, these collaboration capabilities are also enabled in Microsoft Teams thanks to a new integration. New Visio drawings can be created right inside Teams from the Files tab.
Another notable new feature this month is improved support for text-to-speech in Word, which now supports more languages - Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, and Japanese - and support for automatic punctuation. Voice Dictation for Word on the web is also rolling out to all users now.
Microsoft is also rolling out a new update to OneNote, which includes a dark mode, improved inking, and more.
Business administrators have a handful of new customization capabilities for the company's resources. It's now possible to create a custom page for Microsoft Search results inside an organization, and admins can also set what features in the "What's New" list in the Office apps are visible to all users within the organization.
Additionally, Yammer users can customize the name of the "All Company" feed, create a community cover photo, and more in order to strengthen the company's branding. Yammer also now supports eDiscovery in Native Mode. You can configure eDiscovery from the Security and Compliance Center once you've set Yammer to Native mode. Finally, files uploaded to Yammer communities connected to Office 365 are now stored in SharePoint, with support for all the security policies being enforced on the SharePoint server.
Perhaps most notably, Microsoft has announced that the Fluid Framework, which it announced at last year's Build, is now available in public preview for enterprise users of Office 365. Users with organizational accounts can try out the experience here. It aims to "break down the barriers of documents" by allowing components of those documents to be taken from one app and placed in another.
Rounding out the updates, there's FastTrack and App Assure support for the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge, as well as the availability of Office 365 services from German datacenter regions.
