What was the last movie you watched? (2014 Edition)

Recommended Posts

Watched Miyazaki's last film "The Wind Rises" yesterday with the girlfriend, great historical drama with Hideki Anno voicing the lead character amazingly well and beautiful artwork as usual by Studio Ghibli.

I'm really going to miss watching his magical animation/storytelling on the big screen.

2.5/5

Can't argue with the rating, but this is a classic. Saw it as a kid at drive-in. 2nd Movie was Pretty Baby with Brooke Shields, but Susan Sarandon's naked breasts brought on early puberty for me.

9.5/10

Along with Lore, one of my top 10, both found here.

Gareth Edwards knows monster movies and he did a great job with Godzilla. It's a great movie overall and a worthy addition to the genre. Loved it.

The only way this movie would be better was if in the after the credits scene Gipsy Danger somehow showed up. Also, there is no after the credits scene.

How would that be possible when Gipsy was destroyed? I mean, it pretty much self destructed.

That's why I said somehow. Maybe some kind of easter egg. My dream trilogy for Pacific Rim would be a sequel and a prequel based on the Mark I Jaegers. Cherno Alpha is the best Jaeger.

I think it would have to be in the same series/universe in order for a Easter Egg to happen. lol.

Couldn't agree more, watched it yesterday in 3D. I liked the fact the lead actors had just the right amount of screen presence that didn't make you overlook what the movie was truly about (Y)

Godzilla (2014) 7.5/10. I liked it, but not really impressed by it. I hated how it was edited.

Say there's a build up to a scene revealing Godzilla, then it shows him, then cuts away to another scene. I feel like.. uhhhh.. I kinda want to see the whole thing unfold. PUT ME ON GROUND ZERO, not the TV.

The Hobbit 1: 6/10

I am tempted to give it a 7, I didn't fall asleep and there were a few moments I thought were well done. It was a solid meh. I didn't feel pulled into the movie, like the previous trilogy and it was obvious he was dragging the movie out, so he could make a trilogy out of a single movie worth of content.

Star Trek: Heart of Darkness: 8/10

Despite horrible use of fake science, shaky cam and light reflections gone wild... it was a very entertaining movie. Every time my hard science fiction geek reared up and said "oh my gawd, that has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard", I was quickly shut up by rather entertaining action sequences. I wish shaky cam dude, would hire some guys to work with his writers in coming up better "fake science", but I can't fault the guy in creating an entertaining movie.

The Dark Knight - 8.5/10 - It drags on just a tiny bit too much. I found myself getting a bit bored towards the end. Still though, even after the hype train, this movie is awesome.

Which in turn made me watch:

Batman - 7.5/10 - I forgot how good this movie was. It hasn't aged well to be honest, but I really enjoyed it. I think Jack NIcholson is on par with Heath Ledger.

I haven't seen The Dark Knight, but I loved Nicholson as the Joker in Batman.

    • New Outlook for Windows and Web is getting a simple but very useful email feature by Sayan Sen Recently Microsoft put up a blog post highlighting not one, not two, but 15 total reasons why it feels you should switch to New Outlook already. If that was not enough, the company is bringing another new feature soon that could finally compel you to switch over to the new app. According to a recent update on the Microsoft 365 roadmap, the tech giant is making changes to how message sorting works when users choose criteria besides the traditional options of From, Subject, or Date Received. The idea is to provide better options for the attribute being used for sorting and make it easier to understand why messages appear in a particular order. For those unfamiliar Outlook already allows users to sort emails using a variety of fields including sender, category, importance, subject, and message size. Users can access these options through the Filter menu in Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web. With the upcoming change, whenever users sort by a field other than From, Subject, or Date Received, Outlook will automatically display an additional column showing the value being used for the sort. For example, if messages are sorted by Size, a Size column will appear in the message list, allowing users to immediately see the data that determines the ordering of emails. Microsoft believes this should make sorting behavior simpler and reduce the need to manually adjust views or inspect individual messages. Support for sorting by Flag Due Date is also coming and should be especially be helpful for users who rely on email flags to manage follow-up tasks and deadlines. The feature is listed under Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 564803 and is expected to reach general availability beginning later this month itself (June 2026). You can find the entry here. As always though, users should keep in mind that roadmap timelines can change and rollout schedules may occasionally be adjusted by Microsoft. Outlook for Web is also set to receive this feature.
    • That is true. but the liability side of my balance sheet is clean and has been for decades.  Nobody comes a knocking,  calling or writing harassing me for the money i owe them.😎👍  Haven't dealt with "a money changer" in decades and like Jesus it was in Jerusalem.  Don't have much money, but have even less stress in my life.👍👍     P.S.  Sorry, can't walk on water or change it to wine,
    • Maybe ? DLSS Swapper (can swap the DLSS/FSR/XeSS versions) as long as the game (typically online/competitive) doesn't checks for file tampering. You can try different version(s) or update if not the current version of the FSR. https://github.com/beeradmoore/dlss-swapper
