EE stores to remain open longer after lockdown

EE has announced that it will keep a number of its stores open for longer to cope with “pent up demand” when they re-open on Monday. The firm said that it’s predicting a 50% increase in demand for in-person tech support from customers returning to the high street after the latest coronavirus lockdown. You can check your local store’s opening times online.

To reduce contact with other members of the public, EE is allowing customers to book appointments online that will be carried out in-store at a time that’s convenient. The online appointments and virtual queueing technology that the firm is employing is similar to what O2 is going to do when it opens up its recently refurbished stores.

Commenting on the store re-openings, Jona Ebube, Store Manager at Holloway Road London, said:

“We can’t wait to be back on the shop floor. My team are missing regular customers who come in to say hello and ask us for help. We know there will be pent-up demand from people who will always prefer being shown tech face-to-face, and we’ve been busy upskilling our team so we are ready to help as soon as doors open.”

Customers that buy items in-store from April 12 will be invited to enter a competition with hundreds of prizes up for grabs. Some of the more premium items that entrants can win are the PlayStation 5, the Xbox Series X, and the Google Pixel 4a 5G smartphone. The competition is running in shops until May 9 but it should be noted that shops in Scotland won’t open up until April 26.
