Alcatel's IDOL 4S makes its U.S. debut, priced at $349 with VR Goggles

It's been a while since we heard from Alcatel, but it looks like the IDOL 4S that was announced in February at Mobile World Congress, will finally be heading to the United States as an unlocked handset.

Today, Alcatel announced the IDOL 4S would be available to those in the U.S. starting July 15th. The handset offers great value for those looking for decent design and quality construction. While it doesn't offer the snappiest of Snapdragons, it does pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor with 3GB RAM. The full specifications of the device can be found below.

The IDOL 4S offers:

  • 5.5–inch QHD AMOLED Display
  • Snapdragon 652 processor
  • 3GB with 32GB of storage and expansion via microSD
  • 16MP rear camera with 8MP front-facing
  • 3,000mAh battery
  • Dual SIM and NFC
  • Dual 3.6–watt JBL certified speaker
  • Quick Charge 2.0 compatible via microUSB

Perhaps the most interesting part of the IDOL 4S, is the inclusion of the Alcatel VR Goggles. Similar to the GearVR, the VR Goggles will allow users to enjoy VR content that will be curated via Alcatel's app.

The $349 pre-order package will include:

  • IDOL 4S
  • Alcatel VR Goggles
  • Glass screen protector
  • JBL headphones
  • Incipio IDOL 4S protective case

Those that don't pre-order the handset will be able to purchase the same bundle above, but will pay a slightly higher price of $399.99 when it's made available on August 3rd.
