Ataribox pre-orders will open on December 14

Atari's announcement of its surprise return to console development happened back in June. Since the original teaser, over the last months, the company has revealed what its new console, the Ataribox, will look like and also said that the device will be Linux based.

Today, the company announced in a newsletter that pre-orders for the Ataribox would begin later this week on December 14. According to the announcement, an "exclusive discount" will be offered to the "earliest supporters." This offer seems to be a 33% discount that will be available for a limited amount of Ataribox purchases, per the official website. For anyone interested, be sure to sign-up for the console's waitlist to not miss out on the deal.

The company has not attached an official price tag for the Ataribox yet, but have said in the past that it expects the price to be in the $249-$299 range. While exact specifications have not also been announced for the console yet, the Ataribox will be AMD-powered, arriving with a custom CPU equipped with Radeon Graphics. Moreover, its interface will be fully customizable as well, with the company looking to make the Ataribox a "full PC experience for the TV."
