"Dead Rising 2" and its stand-alone expansion "Dead Rising 2: Case Zero" are now available for Xbox Live Gold members for free until Sept. 1 as part of Microsoft's Games with Gold promotion.

Users can download the games by going to the Xbox Live dashboard and selecting them or by adding them to their consoles' download queues on the Xbox Live website, seen below. "Dead Rising 2" typically costs $29.99 on Xbox Live, while "Case Zero" is usually 400 MS points (about $5).

Microsoft has released a free Xbox 360 game for Gold subscribers on the first and 16th of every month since "Fable III" was made available for free on June 15. So far, "Fable III," "Assassin's Creed II," "Defense Grid" and "Crackdown" have been made available for free through the program. "Halo 3" is planned to be released as part of the program at some point, though an exact date has yet to be announced.

The Games with Gold promotion lasts until the end of the year.
