Expect no blinding performance from Parhelia

The retail Parhelia will work at 220MHz and will use 550MHz memory - which we saw on Radeon 8500 cards introduced almost year ago. Today, we can't consider 550MHz memory as state of the art, especially since Geforce 4 Ti 4600s use 650MHz memory and the R300 will use an even faster iteration.

From few people from the industry we heard that Parhelia performance will be even lower than Geforce 4 TI 4200 level but we're still waiting for final details. On a 2.2GHz Northwood we're expecting to notch up around 7000 in 3Dmark 2001 SE, whereas a TI 4200 from Gainward you'll score more than 9000.

Maybe Matrox ahould send testers at least two displays with the cards to give people a chance to experience surround gaming, since that is one feature that will differentiate this card from many others
