Galaxy Buds Live specs leak in full, to reportedly sport a 4.5 hour battery life

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Buds Live is expected to be announced during the company’s virtual Unpacked event on August 5. Details such as the color options of the earphones have leaked in the past, with the most recent one coming from a slip up by the company, confirming the addition of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).

Now, folks over at WinFuture have gotten their hands on the complete specifications and press renders of the South Korean company’s new earbuds, shedding light at various details of the product such as the battery life figures and other technical details.

The first, and most significant of the details are in the device’s battery life department. While the report suggests that the buds will provide a maximum battery life of 7.5 hours on a single charge, that figure can only be achieved by turning off the ANC and Always-On Mic (AOM) features. AOM lets the buds passively listen to wake up commands to summon Bixby. However, if users choose to use those features, the earbuds will offer up to 4.5 hours of listening time, identical to the AirPods Pro.

When paired with the charging case, the Buds Live are expected to offer up to 28 hours without the features turned on, with the numbers dropping to 20 hours when all capabilities are enabled. The charging case can be charged wirelessly through a Qi-enabled charger or through the USB Type-C cable port. Popping the buds into the case for three minutes will supposedly provide up to 35 minutes of listening time.

Other specifications include a single 12mm driver tuned by AKG, as opposed to the dual-driver system in the Buds Plus, a three-microphone array – two external and one internal - and sensors for touch, acceleration, reverb, and distance. The buds will weigh 5.6 grams each.

While the Galaxy Buds Plus offers up to 11 hours of continuous streaming on a single charge, with another 11 added via the charging case, it must be noted that that device comes without ANC. Though the Buds Live are expected to match the AirPods Pro in terms of battery life, it is rumored to be offered for $169, which is much lower than Apple’s offering that is priced at $249. This makes Samsung’s device a more affordable alternative.
