Google Maps update makes group outings much simpler

Google has just announced that its popular mapping application, Google Maps, will make it easier to plan group trips. The firm said that beginning today, you can long press on any place to add it to a short list and share it with your friends on any messaging platform. Additionally, you’ll all be able to add and remove places, and even hold a vote on which place you want to visit.

Google plans to roll out the new update starting this week, so it could take several days before the update lands on your Android or iOS devices.

Once a user finds a place they want to visit, they can long press the venue to add it to a list, which is visible in a bubble on the side of the screen. Once the list has been built, it can be shared to friends who can add or remove venues and cast an up or down vote on each of the selections. You can also see profile pictures of all those people in the group.

Google will keep track of the votes and will highlight the winner when voting has been completed. Google hopes that this feature will build on the Explore and For You functions and make Maps more useful for each user.
