Google updates Camera app on the Play Store, adds double tap to zoom and new elements to UI

Google has now updated its Camera app on the Google Play Store, bringing features that were originally only available to those on the Android O Developer Preview. While there aren't huge updates, the small refining touches to the camera's UI should make things a bit easier when it comes to taking photos and videos.

Google Camera version 4.4 brings an improved toggle switch for engaging video and photo mode. Contrary to the previous setup, users will now be able to clearly see whether they have their camera setup to take photos or videos and will be able to switch between the two by selecting the large icons that now flank the shutter button. If you aren't keen on the new camera and video buttons, you can still use the old gesture of swiping left and right to activate and deactivate the video mode.

Those that like to zoom in while taking a photo will appreciate the newly added double tap to zoom feature that will ramp up the zoom by 50% in an instant. Users will be able to revert to the standard view by double tapping the screen again. The newly updated app is currently available for download from the Google Play Store.
