Instagram live video sessions can now be split and shared

Instagram has just added a new feature that makes it possible to invite your friends to join you when you make a live video broadcast.

Some people might find it quite intimidating going live all by themselves and broadcasting to a large group of people. So Instagram has made it quite easy for users who have started a live broadcast to then simply scroll down a list of the people who are watching and inviting them to join them on their live video session.

Once they have accepted, the guest will appear on your broadcast and the screen will be split into two with both of you now featuring in the session. Once you have finished the live video it will be possible to post it on your stories bar, or simply discard it. Others will be able to see that you are in a joint live session as your icon in the stories bar will have two circles stacked together.

During the session, users will still be able to use the same face filters and stickers that were made famous by Snapchat and have since been adopted, and as we can see here, even elaborated on by other social media platforms over the last year.

If you want to check out the update, you'll need to make sure that you've got version 20 of the Instagram app on either iOS or Android beforehand.
