Xenoblade Chronicles debuted in Japan on the Wii in 2010. It didn't arrive in the United States until a couple of years later and would eventually see a re-release on the 3DS in 2015 and the Wii U in 2016. While it might not be a game that everyone is familiar with, it did receive overwhelmingly positive reviews. Today, during its E3 2017 event, Nintendo revealed that a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, would be arriving on the Switch towards the end of the year.
If unfamiliar, Xenoblade Chronicles is an action role-playing game and judging from the trailer, it looks like the sequel will maintain the same type of gameplay seen in its predecessor. While it doesn't offer the most stellar graphics, these types of games generally rely on a solid mechanic system and an interesting story.
According to the description in the trailer:
"Explore an endless ocean of clouds, where the last remnants of civilization live on the backs of colossal beasts called Titans. Experience the story of Rex and his new friend, Pyra, a mysterious being known as a Blade who grants him tremendous power. Together, search for Pyra’s long lost home Elysium, the ultimate paradise for all of humanity".
As stated previously, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will arrive on the Nintendo Switch during the holiday season of 2017.
