Bring Amazon Alexa into your car with new Garmin Speak

Garmin has just released their new Garmin Speak, an Amazon Alexa equipped smart device for your car. Providing you with visual and spoken turn-by-turn directions through an integrated OLED display and built in speaker or Bluetooth/AUX audio as well as access to the variety of supported commands through Alexa.

Turn words into actions with Garmin Speak voice service, your always-ready driving companion. This small, interactive device combines the hands-free convenience of Amazon’s popular Alexa Voice Service technology with reliable Garmin GPS street navigation.

Garmin have stated that the Speak is the first ever hands-free Alexa device made exclusively for your car. Whilst it has been possible to use Alexa from your car previously by mounting your phone and using the Alexa app, this is the first device that has been designed with this purpose in mind.

Alexa is Amazon's smart assistant and supports spoken commands prefixed with the phrase "Alexa" followed by your request. Alexa enables you to play music, access news, sport and weather, control your smart home devices like lights and climate control as well as supporting games, jokes and trivia through Alexa Skills. Alexa is also available for your home on the Amazon Echo devices, Amazon's answer to the Google Home, with new versions launched at the end of last month.

The Garmin Speak is priced at $149.99 USD and is on sale now in the US from Amazon or Best Buy. There is no confirmation on any international availability.
