While most Chromebooks tend to be relatively low-power devices meant to rely on the cloud more than their own hardware, companies like Samsung and ASUS decided to make big bets at CES 2020 with their own premium-tier devices. Samsung announced the Galaxy Chromebook, which has a 4K AMOLED display and 10th-generation Intel Core processors, in addition to a striking design.
The laptop was initially meant to release in the first quarter of 2020, but Samsung has now revealed that the device is coming on April 6, just a few days later than expected. Specs for the device include a 10th-generation Intel Core i5-10210U, meaning it's a Comet Lake processor rather than Ice Lake, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of SSD storage, though it can be expanded with a microSD or UFS card.
What stands out the most about it is, of course, the 13.3-inch 4K AMOLED display, which supports both touch and pen input, and the pen is actually included with the device and it can be stored inside it. Samsung displays tend to be pretty good, potentially making it a great device for media viewing. Other specs include a 47.9Wh battery, Wi-Fi 6 support, Bluetooth, and two USB Type-C ports.
That all comes wrapped in an aluminum body which you can get in Mercury Gray or Fiesta Red. When it launches on April 6, the galaxy Chromebook will start at $999. We got to go hands-on with it at CES 2020, so be sure to check that out if you're interested in it.
